I drove in Ohio for 25 years with fwd or rwd only. Many snows over 8". I drive to work during the blizzard of 78 in a 73 Nova with snow higher than the bumper. When I moved to Virginia everyone said I needed to get rid of my rwd Ranger and get a 4x4 in case it snowed. I just laughed at them.
My Dad may He RIP was in 3 accidents in the same day in the Blizzard of 78 and 2 accidents with the same cop filing the report. :) FWIW My Dad passed away in Jan of 2022 not during the Blizzard of 78.

I really like my 2025 Lariat hybrid.....I almost went with a 2025 Escape hybrid, but the girlfriend drives a 2024 and just could not bring myself to have the same vehicle (personal thing....lol)...even though, I would have opted for the PHEV version....glad I decided to go with Mav instead.

For me its was Hondas and Acuras hands down the best. I retired from AHMC and as an employee perk we could lease a vechile for a very low price and it included ins & maintenance. at 10 mths we placed another order to replace The one we had. Now for the Mav i use it as a SUV and on occasion I tow my 56 ford bed trailer. I avg 500 + miles per tank so I’m extremely pleased

Hey, had a 1975 Yamaha 650, loved that bike! Had a step seat on my 1980 Suzuki GS850L that my wife really loved!

My best Bike,
When I was growing up (in the 70s), my best friend's parents had a 72 Nova. Even then they referred to the "floating action steering." As we kids were always in the back seat, we couldn't really tell. They also had a 71 Toyota Corolla (or maybe Corona), and sold it with over 300,000 miles on it!
I took a Tacoma 2.7 Ltr 2008 model to 528,000 miles. Server duty, with 10,000 mile oil change intervals. Mobil 1

It took me a couple of weeks to figure out what was so familiar about the drive on the '72 Impala 400 I bought in college.

eventually I figured it out: the slight delay in turning the wheel in a GM of that era and the car turning was reminiscent of a friend's father's yacht that I'd driven!
😱
Yeah, kinda like time travel in reverse...

My favorite scooter, and if ya stirred the gear box above 9,000 rpm she was crazy fast.
Red line was 10,500, she pulled hard right up to 11,000 rpm. Vroom Vroom. :’P

In some ways, yes and in some ways, no.

On the Yes Side: It has the most and best creature comforts out of any vehicle I've owned so far. Car Play, ACC with lane keep, heated seats, sun roof, etc. It is my first truck and having the bed to haul around things I might not want in the cab with me has been pretty nice.

On the No side: The hybrid system is great but I really miss the plug-in hybrid system my Volt had. Being able to run around town with 40 miles of electric range without burning any gas was awesome. I had fully intended to buy a full EV instead of the Mav but I couldn't find one that fit my family's needs at the price point I was looking at and the wife liked the idea of a truck for home and garden projects.

I have the 2024 and I agree that it is the best vehicle I've owned. However, because its a trucklet and not a real truck with a frame, I am constantly worried some idiot will pull in front of me and wreck it. Or something will break that costs a million dollars to fix. So far, nothing like that has happened.

The biggest complaint is the tiny bed and low towing capacity. My Toyota Scion has the same towing capacity and is 2/3rds the weight. Rather embarrassing for the Maverick.

The fact that I have to hit the Drive mode button every single time I get into the truck in order to put it into leaf mode is stupid. Its a hybrid. Why would anyone buy a hybrid and then always want to drive it around in the default Gas Guzzler mode?

It supposedly is supposed to work with Ford Connect and Android Auto, but none of that works on my truck so I disabled it as much as possible. If figure that if I'm not allowed to know where my truck is then Goggle and Ford aren't going to find out either.

I don't get it. I avoid the 'Eco' mode and can achieve awesome mileage in any mode. The issue is you have a change your driving style to match the driving mode.

Normal - normal acceleration and regenerative braking
Easy on the go petal on acceleration, slightly feather the go petal to coast to reduce regenerative braking when needed (maximize recaptured charge by not braking too hard).

Eco - Reduced acceleration and extra regenerative braking
Rock back and forth the assist acceleration, heavier use of go petal to coast to reduce regenerative braking when needed (maximize recaptured charge by not braking too hard).

Slippery - Reduced acceleration and reduced regenerative braking
Rock back and forth the assist acceleration, let the truck coast on its own, careful use of the brake petal to compensate for the sluggish braking (but maximize recaptured charge by not braking too hard).

The Mav is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Age 68 here. Never owned a “big deal” car. Blue collar Detroit all the way. Now own a ‘25 Hybrid AWD (even though I think AWD is way overrated- even in Michigan) with the A Plan (for everyone-not a Ford Employee here) and had a ‘24 Hybrid that I waited 18 months for and got the $3400 Ford deal. Between the MPG, the ride (came from an Escape) and the utility for me no vehicle comes close.
You're right about that AWD. I'm on the Wisconsin\Illinois border and I swap out for snow tires in the winter and do great. Maybe if it was rear wheel drive I'd change to AWD but the snows make it unnecessary.

Okay ..THIS has to be my favorite vehicle...1979 Honda CBX ...fastest production motorcycle at the time . Bought it new .
Kept it stock , drove it for 40 years , and then turned it over to a son ....

Love that bike. A little heavy but the exhaust note is music.

Not really. The eco mode is substantially different. IT tries to hang out in electric only mode as much as possible. The other modes seem to only go electric when they don't have a choice such as during braking. Sometimes they even keep the engine running when you are stopped at a light. In eco mode, I have occasionally achieved over 70 mpg depending on the weather. On average city driving, 50 mpg+ is not uncommon.

On a 2000 mile trip back in April, I averaged about 42 mpg on the highway going about 70 mph on average. Because its a hybrid, its understood that it will not do as good on long trips. I was able to get it to go into all electric mode at 70mph for 10-15 seconds at a time. I don't think that is possible in the other modes. I don't know the reason why it limited the time to 15 seconds, but I assume that it was either depleting the drive battery or overheating the motor.

Sometimes I forget to hit the button and drive off in default mode. Even though I drive the same, it is nearly always worse than leaf (eco) mode.

All I can say is to try eco mode and you will see the difference in mpg.

I rode a CBX
She was a sexy beastie !
My buddy and I would switch back and forth with my 1980 CB750F.

His bike needed brake mods, simple ones.
We drilled out the disks and put stainless steel brake lines on because they didn’t expand under hard loads and extreme Florida heat.

Brake line expansion/swelling made two and three finger braking a bit vague and fixing that gave us awsome fine control while leaned way over deep in a high speed turn.
It worked so well we did the stainless steels lines on my 750F. I didn’t need the drilling.

Sorry but this picture was before the line change. It did look good once completed.
