Definitely see some value in that as a fleet vehicle, especially if it came in sub $20k as a bare-bones model (which, let's face it, what else would it be?). Personally, 0 interest.
I currently have an '08 Ranger with the "Supecab" and 6 foot bed. As a single guy, I find myself doing a lot more hauling and bed stuff than transporting passengers. If I had the option of more bed length and tighter passenger quarters (Ranger technically still seats 5), I'd go for the bed length/Supercab version.
On the flip side, I do far more commuting than bed stuff, so the MPG of the hybrid wins over the box length. The fact that Ford made specific design choices with the tailgate to accommodate 4x8 sheets in the shorter bed was really all I needed.
20 years ago I could see no use for a 4 door pickup with a short little bed. It was only 8-foot beds for me. But my needs have changed and the Maverick checks all the boxes for me in my retirement years.
A year ago, I would have said yes. Give me a two door, and please have it include a manual transmission. Now that I have had my four door for about a month, I would not give it up for a two door.
No thanks. I bought a standard cab S-10 many years ago. I liked the truck but its limitations in securing items inside the cab from weather and thieves convinced me that I don't really want another standard bed truck. Even items as small as a gym bag or groceries became a hassle if I was running errands with one passenger. My other trucks (a Toyota and a Nissan) were of the "king cab" variety. Much more useful.
