I would not want that for sure, way too much
nah, too much is the nautilus 40" wide display. it's just about the entire dashboard.

I would be pretty content if they wanted to add a HUD with the essential info displayed where I want to see it while driving. I have seen some pretty slick implementations of HUD. That would be value added vs the displays.

Any chance I’d be able to upgrade my infotainment center on my 23
Official Site:
https://www.ford.com/technology/ford-digital-experience/

*Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capable.

Video:

I'm so far behind on my 2024 already. I have the Basic Infotainment which isn't even Sync3, much less a Sync4. I have been contemplating buying the upgrade kit that Panda Motorworks sells, but at $999.99 I just can't do it right now. Especially if in a matter of months it too will be obsolete. My Basic system does have wired CarPlay which I made wireless with a Dongle, but boy is it glitchy. I don't have Sirius satellite either. I'm just surprised it doesn't have a CD player!

if there was a thread regarding this, and ditching the Explorer, I guess I missed it.

congrats on the Expedition!
There was!

Anyway, I have learned that repeating knowledge is important. If I didn't mention the replacement, people would be confused if I just said that this new infotainment system was great, people would question why I know.

I feel much safer on the road knowing others are watching movies or hosting Zoom calls as they kinda pay a little attention to the road too. How is this not distracted driving?
Zoom and watching movies, etc. will only be done while parked.

Until someone finds in Forscan how to disable that safety feature so they can multi-task while driving.
I doubt it, honestly. Forscan generally can only enable/disable features that are present in some trim/option level. The transmission is electronically controlled, so if the infotainment is looking for the vehicle to be in Park, it's really going to be in Park.

However, with multiple screens, I bet one of them can play video while moving. @commadorebob knows for sure.

It is a limitation built into Android Automotive itself. So, you would have to jailbreak it. 100% willing to bet it uses GPS to detect movement and locks video down.

At some point, self-driving vehicles will be more numerous, and since the accident rates per mile for them are lower than human driven vehicles, even right now, I suspect there will be roads/highways were manually driven vehicles will be prohibited. Then you can just plop down in the back seat and do what you want on some 2-3 hour highway trip. I think road sickness will become a larger issue.
Than we will have road raging robots, happy to say I wont see this in my life time.
