I use Costco also. I wait until tank is low, add 9-10 gallons of 87 and the last 2-3 gallons of higher octane. 95% of the time I get 42.0 to 44.5 mpg on with the mixed octanes, only 37-38 mpg on the 87 octane...but my Hybrid is noticeably quicker with my blend of the two octanes.

Dragy verified, same road, same temp, weeks apart

87 - 14.62 @ 92.21 0-60 6.25
93 - 14.71 @ 93.02 0-60 6.47

Mpg is pretty much the same as well, premium vs regular.
Thanks for posting.

I'm not saying you did; but even IF you make a mistake typing and inverted those numbers, it's close enough for me to call it a tie. No difference.

ran it again with 90 ethanol free. same place, same temp, same launch rpm. slower

14.72 @ 91.70
0-60 6.39s
0-60ft 2.15
In "some" markets the higher octanes have higher ethanol content, which eliminates knocking, but lowers energy content at the same time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The same temp doesn't necessarily mean the same density altitude. I'd be MUCH more curious to see what that was for all the runs.

As a comparison, I had a '66 Corvette 327/350 hp, 3005 pounds, 3:55 posi / 4-speed that did the 1/4 in 14.14 sec / 101 mph with street rubber. Went through the traps not quite at red line in third gear.

Those times in a 7800 pound Maverick are impressive. No doubt due to better AWD traction off the line, 7 gears instead of 4 and the near instant torque of the EB 2.0.

I'm assuming you meant to type 3800...

Why is it faster on 87 octane?

Looking at it now, it had a lower slope %. Trying again with 93 and hopefully the same slope.

"Lower slope%" Not sure what that means. Did you get a better jump on the 87 run?

I'm not questioning that. The Maverick doesn't weigh even half of the 7800 pounds you stated. 3800 pounds is accurate for a AWD EB Maverick, thus my prior comment.

YOU ARE 100% correct. I don't know where the 7800 # came from - must be a senior moment.
That would have been quite an achievement to pull 7800# with only 250 hp in 14+ seconds in the 1/4.
Thanks for the correction.
