It's to lighten the load on the backend at speed . Acts as a wing.

If the horizontal bar is angled down at the front, it provides some downforce, but that wasn't its purpose.

Yeah, it’s wild how a company can charge hundreds of dollars for cheap, taped on, plastic bits that cost them $10 to make in China.
