Finally picked up my Maverick today and can’t figure out whether my truck has the capability to lock its doors when you’ve left the vehicle with your key. I thought just about every vehicle had this capability now, but if it’s there I can’t find it. There’s some setting that supposedly allows that to happen when you’ve left “Use phone as key” but I can’t figure out how to do that either. I’ve found a few YouTube videos but I don’t seem to have the options in settings to do this. Mine is a Lariat so I would think it has what anyone else has but maybe not.
No walk away lock. The ford pass app allows for remote lock as well as remote start.

I have found on my 2023 XLT with key in the ignition and on/ready. Pushing the lock button on the door, results in immediate unlocking of the lock and a double honk on the horn video below.

There is NO auto lock on any Maverick, regardless of trim level.
You are hitting the lock lever with your hand when you open the door. Because of that. The only door that was locked was your driver's door.

This issue was even addressed by Ford early on. With a technical service bulletin

To be fair they are both an issue lol but in this case you’re correct it’s the manual lock causing the issue.

Only Ford could jack something so easy up.

Yeah, missed that. Do not like auto lock. But, to each his/her own. Thanks for the catch.
If you don’t like it, it’s because you’ve never had a car with it.

I have a Tesla. I put my key fob in my pocket in the morning and I never touch it again until I take it out of my pocket at night. The car automatically unlocks when you approach the vehicle. It automatically turns on when you get in the car. It automatically shuts off when you get out of the car. It automatically locks the car when you walk away.

The system is brilliant. Eventually all cars will have this brand new tech that Tesla introduced in 2012. 🤣

Yeah, I'm not sure why there are people so adamantly opposed to it, lol. My Honda CR-V had something similar, at least with the "walk-away" part, but you could go in and turn it off if you didn't like it. You KNOW it's just a few lines of code to do something like that but....no.

Some of us prefer to maintain active control of our vehicle. Witness the multiple topics in this forum from people complaining that their truck locked itself (even if it didn't).

I used to do this all the time till I trained myself, now it's just once in awhile. When I lock it I just reach up from the rear door and open the drivers door. Not a big deal.

And as I said, it should be an option you turn off in Features. So people who want it can have it, and people who don't can keep it off.

Looks like Ford app has an iOS shortcut to lock the car. Might be able to whip something up to lock it.
