OK, I get it. The Maverick is a low priced truck and they designed it, and built it that way. The price is right and I'm not complaining. I got what I paid for. Part of the fun is filling in the voids like adding a charging pad, installing fog lights, adding a dongle to make my car play wireless. Floor mats, bedliners. Need I go on? That's OK. It's fun. But I also installed the plate that goes on the bottom of the bed that prevents mud and whatever, that get's flung all over off the drivers side rear wheel. I also ordered the plastic covers to prevent mud and whatever, from going down that hole to the rockers in the front of both rear wheels. Now I'm contemplating buying those fender insulators that are not installed on XL and XLT. These things make me feel that Ford decided to cut corners and sell an unfinished project. Which compels me to finish the project. But working on things like this gives me no pride. You don't show these things off to your friends. It's just finishing the vehicle so it stays around awhile. Yes I know you get what you pay for, but come on. So am I wasting my money on the fender insulators? Not expensive, but will they really make a difference? Will the noise really be diminished enough to notice? It's just that gnawing feeling that the truck is missing something. I probably won't get any sleep tonight. Then tomorrow morning I'll order the insulators.

Well, you could've just bought a Lariat.....
My Lariats better sound proofed windshield is a game changer. Got me a super quiet cab.

There's a giant chasm between what any one person considers a finished project/product - sometimes I step back and dust off my hands and say "that'll do" when some thing reaches a bare "minimum viable product" stage - cheap, quick, and easy, and other times I work longer harder and spend more time and money to bring the project closer to "bespoke ornate work of art" territory, both are "done," but they certainly are not equivalent.

you really won't like the Slate truck
I’d never buy a vehicle from a new start up.
Anybody remember the, ‘Yugo’ ?

The Yugo was a subcompact car manufactured in the former Yugoslavia, primarily by Zastava Motors. It was known for being one of the cheapest cars available in the US market in the late 1980s, but also gained notoriety for its poor build quality and reliability issues. Despite its reputation, a new version of the Yugo is reportedly being developed by a German professor and is slated for a drivable prototype in 2027.

Ok. Did the Lariat come with the plug for the tail gate hole? How about the plate behind the driver side rear wheel to stop mud from going up into your fender? Or the latest from Mabett, the covers to keep crap from collecting in your rockers? Or the cover to finish the bumper around the hitch? I don’t think so.

Many years ago I worked with a man who would say "it's good enough for who it's for." It took me years to understand that what he was saying was "if you want to pay the lowest price you get the lowest product." The things you mention add weight and reduce mpg.
And if you don’t add them you’ll have a rust bucket in no time.

My late father had a gold colored Yugo. It was actually not a bad vehicle. It did what it was supposed to do. For the price it was sold for, it was a very functional car.

Hello,

I have an XL 2025 Mav and I purchased both sides of the fender insulators. It did cut down on the noise in my cab if that helps. Noticeable more in the winter running all terrain tires but I can tell a difference. Wifey has a 2023 XL and her brother has a 2024 XLT. We did all of them and everyone can tell a difference. On the XLT not as much but still a slightly noticeable difference. Worth the $ and yeah...why aren't these stock!

I have added exactly zero of those things and consider the truck to be completely finished. By this definition, zero motorcycles would ever be "finished," since pretty much everyone puts extras on their bike.

Seeing as some Mavericks are going on 4 years old and don’t have any of the add ons mentioned - they aren’t rusted yet.

What is your definition of “no time”?

“The price is right and I’m not complaining”

Proceeds to complain about vehicle. LOL
I'm not complaining about the price, but these things having to be added to the truck are basic build items to protect from corrosion and rust should not have to be added after purchase. So am I complaining about that? You bet I am. LOL
