Visiting the Redwoods has been on my bucket list for the past decade. Last weekend, that dream came true! My 2025 Ford Maverick XLT proved to be the perfect road trip vehicle, complete with the luxury, off-road and 4k tow packages.
I began the trip with my girlfriend in the Seattle area, driving down to southwestern Oregon to spend our first night at Humbug State Park. From there, we drove into the Redwoods National Forest and immersed ourselves in nature for the next 3 days. From driving on dirt roads to narrow mountain passes, the Maverick felt right at home. I love how this truck handles corners. It's surprisingly nimble!
Camping with this truck was so enjoyable: we utilized the bed's plugin to inflate our air mattress. The 4'6" bed was plenty big for all of our camping equipment. My prior vehicle was a Honda Civic, and it's so nice to have a truck bed now. Easy access to storage!
After enjoying the Redwoods, we drove east to Mount Shasta. The 14,179-foot mountain first came into view when I was driving on the Gazelle-Callahan Road. The sheer size of that mountain was breathtaking.
This trip was about 1,500 miles and I filled up only 3 times. The Maverick averaged almost 29 mpg during our adventure! Very impressive for the Ecoboost engine. I'm excited for the next road trip adventure, and I know the Maverick will be up to the task. It's the perfect road companion.
