I just stick convex blind spot mirrors on the side mirrors and remove the rearview. I've always had something blocking the view out the back anyway (tool box, topper, a literal solid wall), and with the blind spot mirrors, the only blind spot I have is a "V" shaped area extending about 10' behind.

Only thing I use a rearview for now is to look at one of those headrest mirrors for when I have a rear-facing child seat in the car.

Nice idea. In my last maverick I had purchased a frameless mirror that had slightly longer shaft and it seemed like the ball joints had good bit more flex range and it was a noticeable difference in how much higher it would get up out of the way. I need to get around to getting the dash cam and mirror installed in the new mav one of these days.

All of the black beneath it will still be in your line of sight. OEM goes higher than the black that you can’t remove.

Asking as an honest question, but why would you need to do this?
Judging by the thread title, it sounds like he is having trouble seeing around the mirror. Raising it up appears to create a little more visibility.

Whether anyone needs to do it or not depends on ergonomic issues like their height, mobility, seat position, etc etc etc. Personally, I just crane my neck around perceived obstacles when I need to see something.

I do not understand the advantage.
Mostly affects taller people. That big black thing in the middle of the windshield, above the mirror, partially BLOCKS the view out the front - especially if it is near the same level as your line of site.

Wife wanted a new car and when we went looking there were several cars (mostly KIA and SUBARU) that blocked my view out the front. We bought something else.
