I recently heard the K&N filters are not as good as the stock with respect to dust being sucked in. Can you address this? Is it a concern? As I was scrolling around I cam across a post on another truck forum with a study maki g that claim.

The only thing I have ever heard about K&N filters that could be seen as negative, is if you over oil them, that can upset MAF sensors.

Luckily for us, no MAF. Your info is correct though.

The complete testing results with before/after install pics are below.
Today we use HP Tuners to do some logging and prove there are no adverse effects on intake temps using an open element filter under the hood.
It is 37 degrees F today, both tests took place at that temperature. The truck sat with the hood closed to heat soak the factory air box and our filter kit.
The factory air box was done first and had an advantage as the engine coolant temps were lower, 172 engine temps with a starting air intake temp of 82 degrees. The truck was driven 3 miles and immediately upon return the coolant temps were 181 and the AIT's were 61 degrees.
The intake was swapped, which takes all of about 5 minutes and the hood was closed, engine was warmed up to heat soak our intake. The engine coolant temp was 176 degrees with an AIT of 84 degrees at the start of the drive, same 3 mile route was driven and immediately upon return the coolant temps were again identical 181 degrees with also identical AIT's of 61 degrees.
The kits are ready to ship and only $199!

They should be on our site soon but you can call now to order, 567-424-0471.

Would this setup work for the Hybrid and would it have any advantage to putting it on the hybrid Maverick

Sorry it's not going to work on our hybrids, completely different hose routing.

Unless you're going to drive your hybrid at WOT (wide open throttle) a lot there would be little to no measurable improvement.

Having said that, I plan on a replacement afe filter AFTER the break in period, several documented tanks and 0 to 60 WOT runs. It'll be interesting to see if there is any performance (mpg, time) improvement.
Maybe a little less restricted exhaust (y)

If K&N filters were responsible for measurable engine damage they would have been sued out of existence years ago.

Buscher, what are the two sensors attached to the air intake? One is actually on your replacement and the other comes out the top of the intake just behind the rubber flex thingie.

Oh, I understand there are tests and numbers. The real questions are two: 1) does it increase HP and 2) does it cause engine damage. Buscher posted dyno results showing an increase in HP which makes sense when you see how long and constricted the stock intake is. As for engine damage, if you want the little HP boost along with the cool turbo noises, chances are you have no problem doing more frequent oil changes to mitigate the dirt issue. It's not clear if the additional dirt that gets passed has any real world negative effects.

I've been running K & N air filters since the early 80's, on a variety of vehicles. I've read lots about 'em, and watched some really good scientifically conducted (YouTube) comparison tests. All filters will allow some particulate through - no such thing as 100% protection (efficiency). Testing does seem to reveal that the K & N filter media does allow more particulate through than paper or foam. However, I'm sold on how easy it is to clean and re-oil K & Ns, and they do seem to flow well in the comparison tests I've seen. I will probably get a K & N for my Maverick.
