With the regulation requiring backup cameras I think things improved. I would be in favor of replacing the side mirrors with cameras as well. Our rules are archaic and prevent better tech were it is easy to see the improvements. Other safety stuff that is getting pushed isn't nearly as thought out, tested, or as useful and in some cases quite dangerous. With cameras, and sensors things could get a lot better. I know I find the blind spot systems quite valuable personally and is one of the features I spent extra money for on the Maverick.
My Honda has the passenger side mirror along with the camera at the bottom of passenger side mirror, when the right lane change signal is on, the camera will display it on the screen. It definitely helps with lane change and i am surprised that many cars don't have the feature.

Most of us have also not noticed the trend towards rising hoods. I call it part of the "macho man" trend. Gotta have that macho man front to the car. As a result, we're now developing huge blind spots in front of the car.

If you parked a 1970s or 1980s small truck next to a Maverick, you'd break out laughing. Same functionality. Same size engine. But the hood was probably a foot lower. My 2010 Ranger came with a "power bulge" hood. Yea, right. Compensating for something there fellas.
My Bronco sport was terrible when I topped a hill on my gravel roads. In one place I could not see approaching cars or walking adults even if they were right in front of me.
Because of the ‘Macho hood look”

I think the article is more about the blind spots looking forward, and they are there. From the low-mounted rearview mirror to the thick pillars, there are times when you have to move your head around to see past those obstacles. Shorter people might not have a problem with the rearview mirror blocking the view, but I have to duck my head down to see under it occasionally.

Note that the mirror issue is not unique to the Maverick - many cars have this issue.

As for the pillars, they make the strong for rollover protection. But instead of just putting some 1.25 inch diameter thick roll bars in the pillars, they rely on folded (corrugated) sheet metal, which means a much larger physical size. On my F-150, when I added vent visors to the windows, it actually made that blind spot larger.

As for mirrors, I have added the little round convex mirror to the driver's side, but the passenger mirror is already convex (objects in the mirror are closer than they appear) which I don't like, but that's what ALL cars have now. I'd prefer a larger flat mirror with a small convex round mirror over the distorted "fisheye" view of the convex mirror, especially when backing a trailer.

Yeah, the growing A-pillar blind spots has been a developing problem for years. The 2025 is the first year to get the Intersection Assist, along with a few other new CoPilot technologies, like oncoming traffic AEB. That intersection driver assist feature watches for traffic, cyclists, and pedestrians from those directions when turning, great for in town.

Here's a really good article by fordvideoguy on the breakdown of the different CoPilot safety stuff in 2025: https://www.fordvideoguymedia.com/p...o-pilot360-packages-on-the-2025-ford-maverick

All this freakin' technology really does is create a false sense of security for drivers, so they think that they don't have to pay attention. The computer will find it and alert them or slam on the brakes for them and it's the car's fault if someone gets killed.

🤔 Kids and animals not include?
Huge blind spot behind a Maverick without the benefit of the camera.
This is all you can see at 25 FEET out of your rear view mirror or side mirrors of an average four or five year old child

IMG_20250310_092539.jpg

Everything to do with a low roof line and the inability to mount the rearview mirror any higher up inside the cab.

These photos are not a fair or accurate representation if you're trying to show what the human eye sees. The closest you can get is with a 50mm lens on a full frame sensor, and you're not gonna find that on a phone. Proclaiming "this is what you see" is misleading at best.

Drivers already don't pay attention, humans are pretty much always the weakest link in the chain which is why these technologies exist. There are plenty of studies out there on driver assist technologies; all have been empirically proven to improve driver safety in the real world time and again, some ADAS tech is more important/effective than others. https://scholar.google.com/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0,36&as_ylo=2021&q=driver+assist+system+safety&btnG=

The 360 camera views available going down the road on the 2025 and the front parking sensors are also great at improving situational awareness for the driver if you use them :)

lol what? Yep theyre words, just like the constitution is "just" words.

Do you mean different words? Try these on for size. They're all nicely explained and laid out for your reading enjoyment and comprehension.

Now - what lens did you use to take your photographs?

Using the mirrors Can a 50mm lens SEE through or around the bed?

Dude, I never disagreed with anyone's assertions regarding visibility in the maverick. I took issue with your statement regarding a photograph taken with a phone being the same as what a human eye sees. I've disproven that and showed your statement was not true, incorrect, not factual. Own the untruth. I set it free for you, and now it's all yours.
