First thread on a trip journal!
Route was from San Diego-Mt St Helens-Seattle- Cape Flattery, then hitting as many national parks and preserves on my way down the 101! Hoh National rainforest, lot of spots in the Olympic National Park and the beaches all along the washington and oregon coast. Hit the Coastal Redwoods as well in California before diving off across the mountians above San Francisco to meet back up with the 5 back down to San Diego!
Overall the truck handled beautifully! 2 lane twisty coastal backroads, one lane dirt roads and some light offroading, sand on the beach, it took it all splendidly. I did notice I tanked my gas mileage on the i5, it doesnt really shine on the highway other than still being better than most trucks, super comfortable to drive and able to set cruise control which is a big deal on road trips!
Did a lot better on the 101 and all along the forest service roads!
Slept out of the bed for most of the trip, i had a hodgepodge rack put together that required some light alterations to get it set up for the maverick bed, ill go into what i did to it later! Slapped a canvas tarp on top with a net and didnt loose anything i crammed in there all along the trip. Truck kept everything i needed electrical charged with the interior ports.
Other than that, it served exactly what i needed and worked beautifully. Planning a lot of smaller trips and another large one next year.
