I plan to factory order today. Unsure about sunroof. I like them UNLESS they create significant cabin noise when in use. If so… I’ll save $1000.

thanks for advise

My hearing is poor, but I can tell you, I would rather have the sunroof open with my sliding rear window than a side window. Great ventilation and you can adjust it with the opening amount of the slider. Little to no turbulence and less use of A/C needed.

I don't leave it open on the highway and driving faster than 55mph, but no additional sound when it's closed.

I had mine open on a little sunny trip through the Tunnel of Trees up around Harbor Springs, granted it's a slower drive 35-55mph, but it was actually surprisingly quiet. It has a little fabric mesh gizmo that scoots up and blocks... bugs and wind I guess? Worked pretty well honestly!

One of the advantages of the Lariat (well back in 2022 Lariat Lux I think) is the ability to have the sunroof + heated seats + heated steering wheel + rear sliding window that can be opened/closed.

It made it really nice to be able to keep one's tush and hands warm, yet at the same time have nice cooler airflow through the vehicle w/o opening front or rear side windows. A great combination.

Signed,
Ex Maverick owner who misses these features.

I have one on my 24 XLT and like it. The mesh deflector keeps it surprisingly quiet, and I sometimes just crack the right rear window. (No opening rear window on mine.)
My only minor gripe is that the sunroof seems a bit narrower that the one on our 2010 CRV (and the vehicles are very close to the same width and height). The edge of the sunroof is close to the center of my head when viewed from above.

One thing to note is that with a sunroof, you lose the sunglasses holder. That was important enough for me for the sunroof to not be a deal breaker when I bought it. I know it sounds silly but my last car didn't have a sunglasses holder but my 4 previous Fords did.

It was annoying to stick it in the cupholder.

Also the cabin is not a quiet place to be on the highway. It's pretty loud even on the Lariat trim compared to other cars I've driven (and I had a Focus ST and RS). That's without a sunroof.

I got the sunroof and when I open it to the vent position and open the rear window it provides a nice breeze through the truck to keep it cool. If I were to open windows, my hair would just get blown around and there'd be more noise. Additionally, even when it's closed, I open the shade to let more light into the cab. I think it's definitely worth it.

I found the moonroof is quiet. I tried it in all the different positions.
1> I slid it all the way back while parked then drove down the highway.
3> I closed it & tipped it up as a vent while still moving down the highway.
4> While still moving, I closed it & slid it back open again.

I found the moonroof had a moving limit & only open 4 inches. I guess this to keep people from sticking their head through the moonroof while moving down the road.

I also open & closed the rear window at the same time to try different airflows.

Our sunroof in our ‘23 is not overly noisy. It will add some additional noise when open obviously, but nothing objectionable. I’ve owned several vehicles with sunroofs and find it typical.

WHAT

This is completely wrong, there must be a problem with your truck. The roof opens almost fully, then if you push the button again it opens the remaining 3 inches or so

Echo the previous comments about driving with the roof open, it isn't noisy and if you want more airflow you just open a rear window (or, the rear window on Lariats).

No regrets

If your moonroof is only opening 4", have it checked.
The roof opens fully, and as said above, a second push opens it all the way.

Found it to be quiet, comparatively, at highway speeds.

I've found the open sunroof to be rather quiet when driving at reasonable speeds (i.e., not on freeway). Occasionally, strong winds can be noisy even at lower speeds, but given the rarer occurrence of that, it's a non-issue.

The times that I'm driving with it open, with the rear window open to any degree, and the gentle breeze of air swirling in the cab, seeing a canopy of trees overhead and hearing the rustling leaves, makes the sunroof a welcome luxury in a somewhat austere vehicle. It's absolutely worth the cost.

You KNOW you want it, you've ALREADY MADE UP YOUR MIND 😀, and we're here to give you peace of mind that you made the right choice when you place your order.

Good luck (and happy sunroofing)!
