No. Ford is not sending telemetric data to the police. In the event the police need to know that, they will have to present a warrant and they will not do that for basic speeding. Unless you sign up for the insurance tracking, they are not getting it either.

Ford is mostly using your telemetric data for research purposes. For example, if their telemetrics show that 90% of Maverick drivers use CarPlay, they might be more willing to work with Apple on future features that require more vehicle integration.

Most OEMs also sell that data to third parties. There are companies that maintain digital twins of both you and your vehicle. Purchasing parties include insurance agencies. They buy from the OEMs, government, etc. Anyplace where you or your vehicle leave an electronic trail.

For the skeptics, I'm not making that up. I watched an hour long conversation with the CEO of one company that collects, maintains and sells those digital twins. Don't have the link at hand, but it was an eye opener. OTOH, they only had 30% penetration into the fleet. They said that will rapidly grow over time.

Sorry, wish I had links. But I'm old and they're long gone from my brain. It was one of the Autoline shows, sometime in 2024.

Not speeding and using my cruise control to make sure that I'm not speeding has kept me from getting speeding tickets for a very long time.

It really works.

No, it's not sent to the police. A plane or radar/camera is much more likely.
Or they used Radar and stopped for a donut and then caught up to ya. Small towns, ya know?

Or they were in their car working on donuts and one said to the other "Look at that! I've worked Radar for 32 years and I'm certain that dude is going x.5 mph over limit!".

I was on jury duty last month for a guy trying to beat speeding ticket by a motorcycle policeman.
In court it went like:
Office Landon ~4.5 years with local PD, 15yrs in Colorado as Policeman.
He has received training on the speed lidar & is now an instructor for other policemen on them.
Laser Lidar gun operation, model#, daily tests, age of laser & how long been used by officer.
Saw photo of where happened on Alvin Rd, about nearby schools & walking students, etc.
Also saw bodycam video of the speeding ticket event.

He didn't beat the ticket.

Doesn’t anyone use ‘Radar Detectors“ anymore it’s been decades since I’ve gotten a speeding ticket

I have radar detectors in all my vehicles. No speeding tickets for decades and I exceed the speed limit every day.

ROFL, Once I started playing the MPG game I am occasionally startled when I see a LEO, slam on my brakes in a panic only to realize I was already going 5 under the limit... Well it still gets the ol heart pumping! ROFLMAO Old habits die hard I guess. Yes, I still have radar detectors in my vehicles, but mostly for informational purposes these days as I am rarely speeding anymore. It is good to know what is going on before you see it with your own eyes.

I'm questioning how they were able to track me down 20 miles down the road. I suppose it could have been a traffic camera that grabbed my license plate number.
Nawsir, It was a stationary Radar that watched you speed in a known and monitored problem area.

Or Bobby wrecked His police car and they need extra funds to buy him a new one.
Pay your ticket, go do the online traffic school bullshit and you'll get the points taken off. If you don't your Insurance rates will go up.
Then Fagetaboutit.

So you are one who could be used to justify replacement of radar with device to download the prior 60 minutes of mph and route driven on DEMAND?

Every day when I am going 75 in a 65 on the freeway I am being passed up by those going 85 and on the expressway when I am going 55 in a 45 I am being passed up by those going 65. If the powers that be are looking for justification to monitor us there will be no shortage of it but maybe this is only in California and no one in Texas (and every other state) ever exceeds the speed limits.

It seems to be more universally true that average speed is in excess of the posted speed limits. I feel that is a result of lack of stopping speeders due to risks to officers during such stops. Brings up memories of in Texas when driving in Houston after "red light violations by camera" was implemented, drivers would hold up their "Tricky Dicky" ,(Nixon for Pres paddle board picture) in front of their face while running a red light. After short time the law was changed so that the registered owner got the ticket instead of the driver. 😁😁. So maybe speeding tickee's by camera to registered owners would be appropriate. A frequent question of the time was "How many lights has Tricky ran now?".

I guess we're lucky here in Nevada.
Automated traffic cameras are outlawed in Nevada, meaning speed and red-light cameras cannot be used to issue traffic citations. This ban has been in place since 1999 due to concerns about civil liberties and the potential for these cameras to be used as a revenue generation source rather than safety improvement. While cameras are used for data collection and resource allocation, they cannot be used to issue tickets

Automated traffic cameras are outlawed in Nevada,
there was a proposal in the recent legislature to authorize them, at least in metropolitan Las Vegas. I *think* it's dead.

The protection used to be stronger than now: it used to be the case that out of state agencies requesting info from the DMV had to include an affidavit that it wasn't being used for a camera ticket!
