Got this on eBay and installed it today. Works great. Plug n play. Had to remove eight small screws in console to lift it up enough to reach under and release the 4 button panel. I tried using small screwdrivers to release it but had no luck. So I went the long way but it wasn’t bad or scary at all. I guess about 20 or 30 minutes . I just couldn’t justify spending 99 bucks on the under the dash one. I will take the $80 I saved and go to Disneyland.

Thanks for posting that ! Turning off the engine at a stop sign is NOT one of the truck's better habits, IMHO, and the inability to over-ride this function once and for all is a Ford shortcoming. ( Mine is on the way from ebay - also available from Amazon at higher cost.)

I actually like the auto start/stop feature. And if you don’t want it to function, how hard is it to push the button on the center console to disable it?
Not much harder than disabling it entirely with Forscan.

I hear you... glad it works for you. IMHO, it adds wear and tear on the bearings and starter motor that will bite your tail if you keep the truck for the long haul. (The oil pressure does not protect the bearings on startup.) It would have been easy for Ford to include the option as a setup choice.

I've said this before in the past, but it's not "pushing a button" that is the hassle. It is pushing THAT button, AND acknowledging the seat belts, AND acknowledging the parking brake, AND changing to the drive mode you prefer as default... and then maybe acknowledging the seat belts AGAIN. EVERY drive.

I have no illusions about this cheap truck making it to 1,000,000 miles by eliminating the "wear and tear" supposedly caused by the A/S/S. But getting my truck to the state I want it for each drive should not be a gaming-cheat-code level of button-presses.

Amen, Ford should constantly be improving the software to address customers concerns. My sister’s 2025 Genesis did not have a compass option. She checked a vehicle owners blog and they all concurred. Suddenly yesterday morning, a compass appeared on her display. Ford needs to take a lesson from the Koreans and use the features of the new Sync system to continually improve this fine vehicle and to win new praises from customers with updates that address the customers requests. They don’t have to wait until the next model year any longer with over the air updates.
Take the ball and run Ford !

This trip was all city, had a ton of stoplights, weather was a pleasant 67°F. Did not need heating or air conditioning. Was slightly downhill (300 foot drop out of 13 miles).

The hybrid battery helped some, but not a lot. The elevation drop was too slight for any meaningful regeneration. Did allow some coasting in the 40 MPH zones where wind resistance isn't huge.

What got this great MPG was not so much the battery, as it was shutting the engine off at all those stoplights. About 15 of them, and about 10 minutes of cumulative engine off time.

If I had an EB there would be specific times I'd want the engine to stay on, and there would be others, such as this 13 mile commute that I'd want it to cycle.

Having OPTIONS with a button seems Win-Win to me.

Guess I'm overly practical.

Because of all the stoplights, the EB with auto-stop disabled would net about 20 MPG on this same drive. With it on, probably 40 MPG.

All that to say that you and the OP clearly have different desires.

My typical drive includes several stop signs and literally I stop, the engine shuts off, restarts and I drive away just as fast as you read that.
ASS needs to be a driver defaultable OFF setting. Shouldn't even need to spend the $17 or buy the equipment to use Forscan.

All I know is when I forget to disable the stupid stop/start
my turbo’s oil flow gets suddenly cut off while it’s
still spinning down from 10,000 or 20,000 rpm’s.
That is so ridiculously stupid.
