I am guessing that they kept this form factor to make it easier to self-install, but I have no doubt that once this kit is available that a good carfi shop could easily integrate one of the Pioneer modular units with a larger screen. They would have to fabricate a mount out of plastic and fiberglass. Once the sales volume is high enough I'm sure Metra and others would be interested in offering a prefab mount for the bigger screen.Dude, wth, not using the entire dash and keeping the cubby was not the smartest idea.
Will using this system guarantee no more freezing of the screen and radio????
Regarding 'guarantee' ... that's the million dollar question, isn't it? This system integrates to the factory audio, because the factory audio is what controls key things that aren't just radio/receiver functionality:
- Seatbelt, headlight, backup sensor and other chimes
- Vehicle settings in the infotainment menu such as single/all door unlock preference, rear seat occupant reminder, ambient lighting
The Ford Connected Audio will still be there. And would I bet my life that it will never crash or freeze? Hah. But since it's still there, presumably holding down power and FF will still reboot it, and hopefully it's more reliable when all the media playback functionality is being done by the aftermarket receiver.
