Hybrid, anyone noticed low speed "whistle", especially under 30 miles

Whistle is very obvious from 25 to 30 miles, even with radio on, I can still hear that. My wife think it is so annoyed, like police car followed you.

So, what is "whistle" for, transmission ?

I asked this when I got my truck and was informed it’s a legality thing because hybrid/electric vehicles are virtually silent when operating under electric. There’s a speaker located in the front that makes that sound. There is a part you can google for about $50 that will replace the speaker to disable and not throw a code if you are interested.

Yes...It definitely sounds like a police/fire truck siren at times.

Our '22 Mav hybrid definitely had that siren sound, but with our new '25 Mav hybrid I haven't noticed it over the last month we have been driving it.

I must be lucky because the only sound my hybrid makes is in reverse. It's quiet going forward at all speeds.

Yep. It’s not just Ford it’s all brands have that sound. Drove me crazy until I figured out it was intentional.

True, it less bother than my wife, most of time, she drove her Van, not ride with me.

Really? reverse is fine for safety of by passers, though not quite necessary.

Oh, if this is case, nothing to worry, just to adopt it, actually, only a few second, when go above 30 miles, it's gone.

If it goes away at like about 22-24 MPH then yes, it is the sound speaker, in the front bumper; driver's side.

Mine is off well before 30 mph.

Don't know if it normal or not, just that we are not hearing it on the '25 when we did on the '22.
