Only drill into the cubby screw hole enough to tap the plastic & barely touch the metal. Once you hit metal, test the spacer with the included screw. It doesn’t take much so be patience & use only as much force as needed; be delicate.

If you have a spray in bed-liner, before installing the bracket that holds the box itself (the one you reinstall the tie down point to) that you then run the brace bracket through the the taillight, drill out the two holes in the bed that the reinforcement bracket will pass through. I think I used a 5/16 bit but your mileage will vary.

I hope all that makes sense. It does if you have the instructions in front of you.

Story of my life. Your video would have been very useful, yesterday morning - before I installed my drivers side Swing out. Got it done, but not without some head scratching and inventive drilling to widen the holes where required (I did not have a bit larger enough, but a little side edge shaving worked). It took probably twice as long to do, but I was in no hurry. Still, this will be very helpful for some, thanks for taking the time to help out others.

BTW - as soon as I get the green light from the boss (wife), I'm going to get the passerger side as well, like you have. These hold quite a bit, I can close my tonneau cover, and take up less space that you'd think.

For those of you thinking about installing... Go with the passenger side as the drivers side block the light and the plug on my 24 Mav Lariat. Did not think of that when I ordered.. Grrrrr.

Good point. I don't have the factory light, but I have seen a few different LED rop[e light ideas floating around these forums. I'm taking some time today to figure out what might work for me.

Swing-out boxes look neat, but I'm a slob and would probably have so much junk in the bed there would be no room to swing. I might have to invent one that moves on HD drawer slides...

Thanks for posting. Could you please take a picture of rod that goes into the latch? I picked one of these swing out cases with my Ford points, but the rod does not unlock and doesn't appear to have any cutouts to allow it to unlatch. Much appreciated!

I had the same thought. First time I've seen it installed and it does take up a lot of room.

Depends on your definition I suppose. It’s maybe 8 inch wide & if needed can be easily removed. Unlock a clip and it slides up and out.

Thanks for posting. Could you please take a picture of rod that goes into the latch? I picked one of these swing out cases with my Ford points, but the rod does not unlock and doesn't appear to have any cutouts to allow it to unlatch. Much appreciated!

I just dropped my truck off to the dealership to repair a front sensor so when I get it back in a few few days, I can take some pictures

looks like the same mold as the ford box ?

I had issues and ended up not even using it
If i could ask for two min of your time to see this link
how does your box work in comparison ?

i was not expecting HIGH security. (it does stand to say why have a lock at all at some point)
I have a hard cover. none will know thats its even there

My truck is at the dealership at the moment. I did see this video, but I did not try to do what was done in that video. I have a tonneau so I’m not very concerned about it in the first place. I did try casually after the install to pop the lid like he did and the base lock. It is plastic so with enough force it is going to give, but I didn’t go to the extent he did.
