Lethargic transmission, even in sport mode. Kick it down, wait two seconds and then it finally takes off. There really should have been a paddle shifter/manual mode available from the factory.

........and the Lariat should have come with a soft touch door panel/dash option.

Is the *bleeping* gas "gauge" on the 2025. Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a 9 segment ugly "gauge" taking up all that vertical space needs to be taken out back and taught a lesson. In my 50 years of driving I've never seen a more stupid "gauge" in my life. Same pretty much goes for the temperature gauge but I don't look at that one as much.

This even beats out the off-centered rear license plate (which 3 people have already commented to me on).

What's your biggest complaint?
I test drove a 2025 XLT. The touchscreen and the instrument panel, plus the front end redesign somewhat, convinced me to find a 2024 while I could. I agree about the temp and gas gauge. But I also hated that the climate controls are integrated into the touch screen . I can adjust a know without taking my eyes off the road much easier than the touchscreen.

The LOBO has paddle shifters. Of course the only 1 I found on a dealer's lot had a "market demand" adjusted sticker over 50k!

My biggest complaint on the 2024 is the pop ups on the instrument panel. I KNOW the back up aid is on, I KNOW the adaptive cruise control is off, I hear the seat belt chime I don't need a pop up telling my they are latched or not. Also the auto start/stop should stay off if I select off.

The flip key with the overly sensitive buttons. o_O I have no idea how many times I've locked and unlocked the truck when I'm doing stuff. The number of times I've set off the panic alarm, or found the doors unlocked when I know I locked them is infuriating. Worse yet when the stupid thing opens in my pocket and stabs me in the leg.
I bought this fob cover and haven't hit any of the buttons by mistake and the flip-out key has never opened in my pocket.

Yep.. My biggest complaint for sure. It was the same on my explorer ST. Stupid Ford for not correcting this.

My least favorite is the 4.5 foot bed.

Turns out way more objects are 5 foot than I thought.
Bed extender made that a minor problem. I thought i'd hate the Lund ford extender (I paid 15 bucks after points) but it has been amazing at extending the bed enough to allow me to fit bigger items. That and a cheap hard tonneau cover and it has been great.

Might be a silly question but wouldn't ratchet straps work instead? I haven't hauled anything 5 feet long yet but it looks like the bed extender when flipped in decreases bed space.

So does it have the manual button in the middle of the rotary dial as well? It's my understanding that the transmission is also a seven speed with basically second gear missing?

I agree with the OP. The "gauge" cluster is a screen. How hard would it have been to give us an analog layout option, like in the Mustang? (I have a '25, obviously.) I also don't like the headlight switch defaulting to auto. (Will be fixed with Forscan.) I wish it (the XLT) had one-touch up and down for all windows, and the option for Global Close. (Again, Forscanned on my Focus. Not an option on the XLT but is on higher trims. Why? Same hardware, right?) I don't like the transmission as much as I liked the one in my 2011 Flex that I traded in. The Flex downshifted more aggressively, allowing me to use the brakes much less often. Lastly, my Flex had paddle shifters, which I used often on hilly terrain. (I have tried the "L" button on my Mav, but not enough to come to a conclusion about it.) Yep, paddle shifters are standard on the Lobo (and maybe that 7-speed is programmed differently, too), but I was budget-constrained.

I know this sounds like I'm unhappy, but I'm really not. All of this I knew about (except for the transmission's reluctance to downshift) thanks to this forum and I have no regrets. So far, this Maverick has exceeded my expectations.

47 years in the plastic molding machinery field and here is a hard fact about plastic. You can make it scratch resistant but it is heavy, pricey, and contains high glass fiber content which then requires painting to seal for interior use. The plastic used in interior pieces is pretty much the same as a Rubbermaid tote or garbage can. Very soft material but doesn't crack from heating and shrinking due to temperature changes. I remember the good old 60s cars with painted metal interiors and guess what? They scratched easily. So it is just the nature of the beast.

Yes. I wasn't interested in the LOBO but since it was on the lot I looked at it. Shiny object disease runs rampant in my family when it comes to vehicles.
