I turned hotspot off on the Mav, but the wifi on my phone still turns on every time I get in the truck. I don't need the hotspot. Is anything else need to be turn off in the truck screen?

I haven't look, but that's good idea to look what is connected to. It must be to the truck tho when I get in, cuz is happening every time since I got the Mav a week ago. When you say that your phone's Wi-Fi turns on, do you mean that it is connecting to your truck's access point specifically?
The Wi-Fi on your phone connects to your Sync 4 system for Android auto/carplay.This is Mav 2025 hybrid Lariat, just got it new a week ago. I get one year free hotshot, maybie dealer set this up. My wifi on the phone turns on when I get into the truck. I turned off hotspot on truck screen but still happening before. Doesn't happening this anywhere, just when I get into the truck. In a little I go to short trip and gonna check what's connected, I think to nothing tho. If I remember at one point the truck screen said don't turn wifi off for better experiance.
Thx, I think that's it, you spot on. So the truck connect to my wifi phone phone or the other way around.Just to be aware - there are 3 wi-fi's related to the truck.
But the question is on your phone. Just stick to that.
1 WiFi is for truck to connect to YOUR home WiFi so it has faster speed access to the internet - or that's the hope.
In order to download software updates for the infotainment system.
1 WiFi is for the truck as a hotspot, to connect YOUR devices to. The backhaul is thru the AT&T cell network via the trucks modem, which is used also for getting truck info up to Ford. That's where your Fordpass app get's the info on truck allows remote functions.
correction added - 1 WiFi is related to Carplay with Sync4 systems using a 5Ghz system, once Bluetooth establishes a connection via prior setup, wifi is connected for faster transfer.
Your WiFi on phone doesn't just turn on BTW, it's either on or off by your choice.
Just to improve terms - it's auto-connecting to a network it's connected to before.
I'm highly doubtful the hotspot function allows auto-connecting without a password, as that would be a huge security issue. Not impossible, but unlikely.
Im not 100% on this, however I think I understand what you are talking about. This is Mav 2025 hybrid Lariat, just got it new a week ago. I get one year free hotshot, maybie dealer set this up. My wifi on the phone turns on when I get into the truck. I turned off hotspot on truck screen but still happening before. Doesn't happening this anywhere, just when I get into the truck. oops i got excited, and didnt realize this was answered, with better wording. Apologies.Im not 100% on this, however I think I understand what you are talking about.
#1. Are you using an android phone with "Android Auto"?
Im pretty sure the Android auto connects with both bluetooth and a wifi connection.
I really didnt look too much further into myself, I didnt want to accidently screw up compatibility, etc...
I think you are write for the first part, I'm not connected to the hotspot cuz I turned that off. I talked to the dealer and he explained to me that I'm connected to the modem in the truck, and they can see if something is wrong as I can if that occurs. What was bug me was that my wifi connects to it even if is turned off before I get in.I think the terminology used to describe the problem is confusing....
Here are some things that will help you distinguish what is going on....
Wifi Turning on and Wifi connected are two different things....
Wifi on: the phones wifi radio is enabled.
Wifi connected: the phone has established a network connection with a hotspot.
ie. Your phones Wifi can be on but not connected to a wifi hotspot, On Android phones, similar to iPhones, hold the Wifi icon and it will show the network your phone is currently using for Wifi, if not showing , then you're using your phones data plan.
You said your phone is connected to your Mav's Hotspot , then if you are far from your home's Wifi, your phone should show you are connected using the above procedure.
If you know the SSID (hotspot name) of your Mav, use a laptop or someone elses phone to scan for available Wifi Networks, see if the Mav's hotspot is listed.
Lets say in fact your Mav has a wifi hotspot and your phone really is connecting to it, that means at some point you added that hotspot to your phone, and if you don't want to use it, just delete it from your phones available networks.
What you're saying doesn't add up.I think you are write for the first part, I'm not connected to the hotspot cuz I turned that off. I talked to the dealer and he explained to me that I'm connected to the modem in the truck, and they can see if something is wrong as I can if that occurs. What was bug me was that my wifi connects to it even if is turned off before I get in.
