Cleaning Between Cab and Soft Top Bed Cover

Apologies if this has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find a thread addressing this.

2022 XLT hybrid. I had a soft top installed and since I park outside, the gap between the cover and the cab quickly fills up with tree debris - leaves, twigs, acorns etc. I asked the dealer how to deal with this and they acted as if this had never come up. I've been using a popsicle stick to try to keep the gap clear but there has to be a better solution - right?

Anyone found a good solution for this? I don't care if it's an aftermarket product or a better cleaning technique. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello-not trying to be a smart-Ass, but not parking under a tree or use a pop-up tent might help. I have a soft cover as well and just blast with hose every now and then.

Just take the cover off.. If I'm doing a deep cleaning I remove my cover. Takes less than a minute...

I’m sorry to the replies to this. There have been complete jackasses replying so far and being very impractical.

I understand what you’re talking about. I get the leaves and small twigs & debris between my cabin bulkhead and the soft top too.

What I’ve been trying to do is pretty much when I go through the car wash, I use a pair of tweezers lol but I used to try to grab little things that I can take out. It’s probably the same tweezer brand the above posters use to find their…anyways.

There is a car wash stall place nearby where pressure wash that gap and force the debris out.

Depending on your type of cover, it might be best to just remove it when it’s car wash time. Mine takes about 4 minutes to remove. It’s a soft folding Ford cover. And I get to rinse the bed out too. It’s usually full of mulch bits or wood splinters…

Can you just add a piece of thick, closed cell, neoprene foam with back adhesive to fill that gap? I buy that material for work from McMaster. That way there will be no gap for debris.

I know some of the answers have been snarky, but really the best way to clean that area seems to be to remove the tonneau and wash it down real good periodically. Even a hard cover, which I know is a harder thing to do, but we had to do that on our older Maverick. There's no way to stop debris build up in that gap because you don't want the cover bumping right up against the glass and potentially damaging it.

Do you have the tri-fold soft cover or one of those roll-ups?

It's a roll-up. Can't recall the brand but was installed by the dealer.

Probably the hardest to remove. You could try a high pressure car wash spray on the gap in between if it's too annoying to remove entirely.

I have a hard folding over a about a 1 inchgap between the glass and bed cover. I use my small handheld Ryobi blower to blow and crud between the cab and the cover gap.

I've never needed to remove the cover to clean between, whether getting debris out or washing by hand.
