Yes. I use an old Intel Atom netbook on Win 7 and it runs FORScan fine with vLinker cable.
So how do you update your ForScan package or the data? I hope you don't actually go online with that ancient no-security system...

Imagine freaking about the potential of brief exposure of Win 7 to The Internet when aiming to use it with literal Russian hacking software.

So why not use an old computer stripped bare, and have nothing to steal or hack inside? And use it just for truck stuff.
Exactly what I did yesterday. Picked up a cheap/used Microsoft Surface tablet on with a fresh install of win 11. Got the OBDLinkEX on sale for $53. Only thing added to the tablet are the OBDLInk drivers and ForScan (both added via USB to avoid putting the tablet on my network). Only time it needs a network connection is to verify the license install, which I'll be doing from Starbucks tomorrow.

Should I be worried about using the old tablet I got on the internet? I use it for forscan and for my coffee roaster which needs to be online.

Yesterday I put FORscan on my laptop. I'm still awaiting delivery of the corded OBD connector specifically claiming compatibility with FORscan connection.
For fun and everyone's benefit, I'll also put FORscan on an old Android-4 tablet and a newer Android-9 tablet and see how it works.

If I end up using a small 7" tablet to store and run all my audio and GPS etc., I'll also use bluetooth OBD connection to run Torque Pro, and possibly FORscan (dunno if it can be done via Bluetooth...). Since I intend to only use FORscan to modify and set up things on the Mav and Transit (not Connect), I don't think I'd need it accessible while driving or for daily use.

It's not recommended to make FORscan changes with a bluetooth OBD adapter. You do not want to lose connection while FORscan is writing changes to modules.

What you're describing is what most people, including myself, do:
  • Windows laptop, corded OBD adapter for making FORscan module changes and advanced diagnostics only. This is the only system you should be writing changes with.
  • Android phone/tablet and bluetooth OBD adapter for reading/monitoring PIDs and DTCs.

100% agreed. if you use Forscan via bluetooth connection, you can safely pull DTCs and live log, but I absolutely would not run modules or or change any settings.

it "should" be good for basic things, including Forscan. Forscan supports windows 11 and requires and x86 process (the Dell you're looking at is a Celeron core, which is x86). no guarantees though!
