We own a Newmar Bay Star Motor Home and previously pulled our 2008 Toyota Solara Convertible for a few years, but it was approaching 250,000 miles. We sold the Toyota, and me being a Ford guy and already owning a 2017 F-150 Platinum FX4, we purchased a 2024 Maverick XLT, in January 2024, to pull behind our Motor Home.

We’ve owned the Maverick 14 months now and it has never let us down.

I’m a Lead Pastor, and a Hospice Chaplain, and put quite a few miles on my daily driver each year. Since the Maverick gets great fuel mileage, I use it as my daily driver as well as tow it behind our Motor Home when we travel. In 14 months, I have put almost 20,000 miles on my Maverick and have not had one problem, except for the few recalls. The Maverick has been an excellent choice of vehicle for us, for what we do with it, and we have been very pleased. It drives great and pulls great behind the RV

I have added some modifications to the exterior and some small additions to the interior.

Exterior wise, I have added . . .

• BakFlip MX4 Hard Trifold Bed Cover
• BedRug XLT Bed Mat
• EGR Matt Black Side Window Defectors
• EGR Matt Black Hood Protector
• Mud Flaps
• Nilight LED Spot Lights
• Falken WildPeak AT/Trail Tires 235/60/18
• Anti-Collision Hard Plastic Door Strip. Molding

Interior wise, I have added . . .

• Custom Console Dash Tray
• Center Console Organizer Tray
• Door Seal Protector Plate
• Ikon MotorSports All Weather Floor Mats

Considering your high annual mileage and towing the Mav behind your motor home, I am wondering why you went with the EcoBoost instead of the Hybrid?

Thats a good looking truck! I really like the maverick logo on the door, and the moulding under it along the bottom.

Love the door strips on the bottom of the doors and the Maverick Logo. Where did you find that? I don't see it as a Ford Item but I would love to get that for my truck. It's on both sides right?

You have done a great job with your truck! I have most of the mods you have done. I don't have the lights. They look like they might get in the way or obstruct your vision a bit?? I know, there aren't many places available, although my nephew drilled out on the front grill down below and put some fog lights in there and it looks really good. I would like to put an additional set of lights on the back for backing up at night but not much room for any lights there either!

Thank you for your kind comments.

I got the door strips/guards from Amazon and the Maverick signs from Etsy. You just have to look around for stuff.

Honestly, I was concerned about the hybrid and the longevity of the vehicle. Looking back, I should have purchased the hybrid.

Thank you for your comment.

Everything I have read online from folks and from existing ford techs, it seems the Hybrid has the more reliable, longer-lived drivetrain. That 2.5L Atkinson-cycle engine is rock-solid.

The Maverick emblems do look great. I’ll have to look for a set. Hopefully I’ll have my 25 hybrid set up for flat towing before long. Thanks for sharing!

My wife and I do much the same. We have a Newmar Ventana and tow our 2024 XL behind and it’s a great set up. On my XL, I’ve added a set of XLT wheels, Lomax hard tri fold bed cover, rubber bed mat, tailgate assist, led bed lights, tailgate electric lock/unlock (factory set up), window tint and all weather floor liners. It’s been a great truck so far, though only have 7,500 miles.

Fantastic! Your Rig looks great!

Newmar Ventana?! As they say in the South where I live, “You’re chopping tall cotton.”

We’ve only had our 2013 Bay Star (31ft) for 2 years, but we’re loving it. The quality and craftsmanship is excellent on a Newmar. Our 2013 is like new. It only had 13,000 miles on it when we purchased it. Now we have about 20,000 miles on it.

I love what you e done with your XL. I think it’s fun to fix a truck up the way you like it. Hopefully we’ll see you on the road someday.

Blessings on you and your family.

If you had purchased the Hybrid, you would have been able to flat tow the truck and dump the clunky and ugly dolly.
We flat tow ours and love it.
So easy to tow.
