Hell of a hit. My son drove into the rear of a stopped car with his Nissan, no air bags deployed. Not sure how fast he was going, would not say! May have been below 35 mph, did not know such a limit existed, thought it was force, (G - Loads).

Another one right in front of me involved a 3/4- 1 ton Ram pickup going through a red light and hitting a Honda Civic in the rear quarter, again no air bags deployed and the car did at least a 300 degree spin. Interestingly the engine was still running which caused an issue. I was two seconds behind the Civic on a motorcycle, thank God it was not 2 seconds later.

I was surprised the air bags did not deploy in my son's accident and equally surprised they did not deploy in your accident. There is an Onboard Data Recorder, but it does not save a lot of info that you think that it should. For instance the Time of Day is not recorded, at least in Toyota's. There is info on throttle body position, brake application, time from initiation of incident to air bag deployment, nothing going to here in your case, There are times for other things from the time of initiation, mostly of interest to the manufacturer but not of much else. I can not remember if it recorded the speed of vehicle at time of impact or not, would be useful. There is no data from the onboard cameras recorded either, again not in Toyota, Ford do not know but unlikely.

The Onboard Data Recorder is not a Black Box like Aircraft use, but it could be.

The side airbags in my 22 MY were recalled and replaced? Did yours have a recall and were they replaced? Just asking..................
2023 Ford mavericks dont yet have recall for any airbags. When i took to the same local FORD dealer , they never told me or serviced for any airbags recalls

The recall was only on Mavericks produced from June 2021-Mid-August 2022. It would not apply to any 2023 Mavericks. The recall was not due to airbags not working, but rather due to how the airbags deployed.

Lawyer up and sue!
15 lawyers denied taking my defective airbag suit as the injuries need to be 100k-200 k in order to take on a product liability case. Time and man hours involved. Unless your on a death bed or already have a recall then and only then do they take the case because then it is a guaruntee win

The passenger side dash air bag would not have deployed because there was no passenger. It and possibly the passenger seat air bag are not activated if the seat sensors don't detect someone sitting in the seat. See the panel in the dash recess to the right of the cubby.
The driver's side, May not (in my opinion) have deployed because there was no impact on centre or left side of the vehicle. Also in my opinion, the AEB automatic emergency braking may have kicked in and lowered the vehicle speed below the threshold for airbag deployment. Again, you would not want the drivers seat airbag to deploy and push the driver closer to the impact side.
Just my thoughts

I agree Ken but I still think if front bumper is hit by a 45 MPH van, it should have deployed the air bag especially since the sensor triggered my Ford App. to let me know the Vehicle is undriveable. I think the steering wheel airbagdeployment might have prevented the amount of injuries I have currently.

...I also wondered how these cars [trucks] would hold up in an accident.
I was in a 25-mph frontal crash with my 2010 Toyota Tacoma Truck, and my front airbags did not deploy either....
Aren't airbags supposed to only deploy if going over ~30mph?

If you're referring to airbags deploying in the vehicles that were rear-ended, they aren't supposed to deploy in those cases. They wouldn't do any good anyway and might cause injury that might have not occurred otherwise.

Now, if you're referring to the at-fault vehicles, airbags should've gone off, if they were traveling over 30mph at the time of impact.

I slid on ice and went into a ditch going (about) 10 MPH. When I rolled onto my passenger side in the ditch, 6 airbags deployed. So speed isn't always a factor.

January 29 worst day of my life.
Still dealing with a pinched nerve and a torn rotator cuff. Hopefully Ford can get the 2023 Ford maverick hybrid air bags working so nobody ends up worse then me. Vin # 3FTtW8E33PRA17219
Lee county sheriff case number
25-052704 states no air bag deployments.
State farm insurance crash report :
5979X742K also states no air bag deployments:
Wow! That's an unhappy mess, glad to hear you are OK. First, make sure your PCP refers you to a neuro-doc, ASAP. I work in head protection, you need to be evaluated. As we say, there is no such thing as a "tough head". The fact the bags did not deploy looks like a mistake. In crash research we use triaxial accelerometers to determine the character of a crash. For the most part, they don't need a specific direction of impact, they integrate all impulses and the software makes the decision to react or not. Ford's crashworthiness group needs to be looking at this one.
