Hell of a hit. My son drove into the rear of a stopped car with his Nissan, no air bags deployed. Not sure how fast he was going, would not say! May have been below 35 mph, did not know such a limit existed, thought it was force, (G - Loads).
Another one right in front of me involved a 3/4- 1 ton Ram pickup going through a red light and hitting a Honda Civic in the rear quarter, again no air bags deployed and the car did at least a 300 degree spin. Interestingly the engine was still running which caused an issue. I was two seconds behind the Civic on a motorcycle, thank God it was not 2 seconds later.
I was surprised the air bags did not deploy in my son's accident and equally surprised they did not deploy in your accident. There is an Onboard Data Recorder, but it does not save a lot of info that you think that it should. For instance the Time of Day is not recorded, at least in Toyota's. There is info on throttle body position, brake application, time from initiation of incident to air bag deployment, nothing going to here in your case, There are times for other things from the time of initiation, mostly of interest to the manufacturer but not of much else. I can not remember if it recorded the speed of vehicle at time of impact or not, would be useful. There is no data from the onboard cameras recorded either, again not in Toyota, Ford do not know but unlikely.
The Onboard Data Recorder is not a Black Box like Aircraft use, but it could be.
