As a person who daily works with hardware and software in another industry, my guess is that the backup camera issue is a lot deeper than just bad code that could easily be fixed by a software engineer, since a fix hasn't been put out yet. Likely they're up against hardware or processor limitations that are not easily worked around. Or, any potential fixes have other negative effects that break other functionality. It also likely isn't a case where it would be easy to "just upgrade to sync3/4", as that probably would include hardware updates, new programming, and possibly new rounds of certification that the updated hardware will work properly in the XL/XLT environment.

If what you stated is true and I have no reason to doubt it. It sounds logical to me and makes sense.
Ford screwed up trying to cheap out with the Ford/Harman Connected Touch Radio System.

I was at dealer when service rep came in and he said more than software

Glen about every 200th time (? +/-) I turn off my 2022 lariat I will have a very light "snow" usually noticeable in dark garage where info screen doesn't completely shut down. When noticed I restart and repeat shutdown and screen completely goes dark.

Wow, I wonder if that would have turned into a battery drain overnight!?
Glad infrequent, and noticed.
During Acc mode with just that screen and supporting modules on - about 4 A from the 12VB.

Your analysis is pretty spot-on to what going on here.
The 2022-2024 Maverick XL/XLTs will be known for it's camera flaw.
Which, a few people have noted on this forum. Though, only about 10% (36,000+) of the 360,000+ Mavericks produced, owner's are members here. (disclaimer: I have had only two occurances, and the last one was fixed by a Info system reboot).
We know that the conditon affects the "Unsold" Mavericks.
But, what are the ramifications for those units, already out there that probably will never have the recall done? Will there be a Class Action?

Guess I should have researched more. Didn’t know about the lengthy recall issue prior to going into a dealership this past weekend. Was told that it would take a “few days” for them to upgrade the software. Unfortunately I signed the buyers agreement and put a $500 hold down. If I had known how long this had been going on, I would not have done that.

There should be no reason you couldn't cancel and ask for the deposit back.

I've had a deposit down since Nov. 20th and am going back and forth about looking for something else but I really like the Maverick so I'll probably stick it out.

For those folks that have a deposit on a particular 24 Ford Maverick with the camera problems. I think the least the dealership could do for you, is throw in the 100,000 mile 10-year ESP warranty for free.

Would be nice!
But I feel Ford will fix the "sold"ones first to get them delivered before they offer rebates or other incentives. They know those of us who are still waiting want the truck. And that's the seller's market

Just an update from my earlier post. I spoke to the dealership today and of course you have to take what they say with a grain of salt, but I was told they fully expected the fix from Ford this past Thursday. They didn’t get it but still believe it’s just a matter of days now. Not weeks, I was told. They did say they would work with me if I didn‘t want to wait by letting me choose a different vehicle or even wait until the 2025’s rolled in. Around $3500 more for the same packages if I did the 2025.

One thing that I have learned is that one should never underestimate what the least and auto sales department can truly do.
