Thanks, that is something I did on my new 1963 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop. We should have improved since then.

Does the 2025 XLT Eco engine come with synthetic oil?
No, it does not. I did my first oil change at 495 miles, and I’m really glad I did. I felt that the engine settled at around 310-320 miles, and when I drained the factory oil, it was ugly dark with a high concentration of metals in the Blackstone report—well above the recommended levels.

Replacing the factory-installed oil early is a must, and I highly recommend it for any engine, but especially for an EcoBoost. These engines run high compression and have a turbo that spins incredibly fast and run super-hot, so synthetic oil is essential. If you can, invest on 100% synthetic oils, which outperform many so-called "full synthetics."

My oil change plan for this truck:
✔ 500 miles – First change (done)
✔ 2,000 miles – Next change
✔ 7,000_8,000-mile intervals moving forward

For the oil filter, I’m sticking with Motorcraft, which is a high-capacity, high-quality filter made by Purolator.

If you want to protect your engine long-term, early oil changes with 100% synthetic oil are the way to go!

After getting sample results at~900 miles, and recommendations to go bit longer, I had oil change at 1,300 miles. Changed to synthetic blend, which the manual suggested ok. Live in wild side.

My biggest concern was low viscosity number. Not pleased over that.

Truck coming up to 5,000 miles. Plan to draw another sample, see results and go from there. Might switch to full synthetic. ?

Thank you for this! I was going to ask about first oil change, as I'm coming up to 500 miles on my 25 Maverick XL and didn't want to go too long before changing it. I was originally considering 1500 miles but will do it at 500 now with your experiences. Much appreciated!

If you willing, need to know, try getting sample, send in, see what’s going on either the engine. Then perhaps might could go longer on that factory oil. No sense changing it with fresh lube oil, when engine still breaking in. The oil filter will, hopefully, contain the bad stuff, doing the job keeping oil ok.

"CajunMick",
I have only used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Mobile 1 since 1989. Out of curiosity, how much price difference for an oil change is there between synthetic blend and 100% synthetic?
I'm assuming no cost difference in the filters.
Thank you

Look up the price of Amsoil Signature or Red Line boutique PAO/Ester oils for price differences. Nothing you will find on the shelf will be 100% PAO/Ester. I believe they're running $16-17/qt.

I was asking ,"CajunMick" what the price difference would be on a synthetic blend oil change versus full synthetic. I have no idea what Ester or paos would be.
Sorry, I have no idea what you're referring to. 🤷‍♂️

Sorry, I think I misread your question. I thought you were asking the price difference between an oil change between Full Synthetic (Group III mineral oils) and 100% Synthetic (Group IV PAO/Ester). Now I realize you were asking about syn blend (group II/III mixture) and full synthetic...
