Oh my God. 🤝 Finally someone else who understands the value of making car payments to yourself. I did that but started back in 1987. I had a 24-month loan on a brand new Taurus at 1.9% financing. I financed as much as I could. Due to the fact that I was doing fine making that car payment after I paid it off with Ford Motor Credit I told my credit union to deduct the same amount out of my check so I never saw it what right into my credit union account. I've always had the ability to pay cash I.E. self finance a vehicle. If I could get financing for less interest than what I was earning on my money I always used their money.
With an 850 FICO score you can usually negotiate some pretty good interest rates.
My score is 814, wife's is 834. Still got a 7.99% interest rate from FordCredit. No negotiating was allowed. Take it or leave it.

when? they were that high for a while, but should not be currently that high for super-prime (>785).

Last week.
that is pretty crazy and to me it implies that they are not looking to grow the portfolio, since the bank rate is 4.5% and there are many prime lenders way under 7.99 now.

How is it that some people know the details about a tariff and how it will affect a specific product before the President has completed a negotiation that will determine whether or not any tariff will be needed? I'd say certain media has been very effective in molding minds.

IF the tariff is imposed, this is one scenario of the potential effect on the auto industry:

Consider the auto industry. A single car or truck can move back and forth between the U.S. and Canada up to eight times before it’s fully assembled. The entire car seat industry is based in Mexico. Ford’s Maverick pickups, Bronco Sport SUVs and Mustang Mach-E EVs are made in Mexico too. All told, S&P Global estimates that Trump’s tariffs could cost automakers up to 17% of their annual core profits — which could translate into a $3,000 price hike for the average car, according to Kelley Blue Book.

Mex peso has been rather stable the last month, not changing much at all since the us election... If the crippling 25% tariff was anything more than a threat, it would be reflected in the market.
