So we tried this out this with a Flated (@FLATED Guy @FLATED HQ) this past weekend.i didn't get alllllll the photos but here's the basics.
We used pvc poles to built a frame for the suv hatch tent we found on Amazon. It has an awning attached. The pvc just hooks onto the latch for the tailgate.
The bed platform rests on the top rails of the flexbed part. That part is built in place. The half that extends onto the tailgate has latches so it can come off and attaches in place. Mattress folds in half. That part of the build has adjustable legs so it can be used as a table also.
Is it perfect? No. But we slept 2 adults, a 4 year old, and a 65 lb dog in the bed of the maveric way more comfortably than an air mattress.
I also built a drawer thing out of an old desk for easy storage. Instead of slides I used felt that slides on plywood with a thick coat of poly.
