I had some free time over the Thanksgiving weekend and decided to 3d print some accessories for the Maverick to help learn fusion 360 and the software for the Bambu P1S printer we recently got.

Behind the seat storage: printed brackets to hold crappy harbor freight emergency tool kit (left)and tow strap kit (right) neatly behind seat using existing holes / brackets on the truck. I'm a little OCD and didn't like the toolbox getting wedged in under the seat.

Hook for tow strap kit (I'll probably redo this to be more of a round hook but it works)

I also printed new flexbed plates for my bedlighting switch and a 12v outlet. PETG filament printed on textured PEI matches the factory spray in liner almost perfectly. I found a file on Thingaverse but the fit was easy off and not strong enough, I did copy and modify the clip design though.

That’s awesome! I’m actually debating getting our first 3D printer right now. After lots of research, I coincidentally arrived at this same printer model too, with AMS.

Initially I wanted the Bambu, my wife wanted an ender 3 V2 with bed leveling, she won but decided I was right after a couple months and we upgraded to the Bambu P1S with AMS. Definitely the way to go, much faster prints, more filament options with the enclosure and direct extruder and it just works without tons of setup and tinkering. Unfortunately she didn't want to fait for a black Friday sale so we missed that by a couple days too...

I had initially decided on a Sovol, then, and Ender, but I made up my mind with Bambu. Works right out of the box and won’t need constant tinkering or upgrades like the others. I don’t mind open source stuff, but for my “first time,” I just want it to work. Adam Savage (of Mythbusters) has two X1 Carbon’s in his own shop. Good enough for him—more than good enough for us!

These types of projects are exactly the types of creative things I want to get in to.

Yeah, it was kind of neat setting up, modifying, and tweaking the ender but I found when I wanted to print something I wanted I just wanted it to work, I don't want the printing to be a hobby. Besides I've got enough to figure out learning the modeling software.

Just sold my Ender 5 locally, wasn't sure I would get anything out of it, after snagging an X1C and AMS on black friday. What a difference.

Props to you on learning Fusion, I have been procrastinating on that, have gotten quite a few decent things in the past few years with TinkerCAD though ( I know it is the Fisher Price CAD haha).

Just did my firsth Lithophane yesterday, it turned out amazing.

Only Mav item so far is the cubby grid, but it creaks without a phone on the mount so I am either going to shim it a bit or try to modify the design. Haven't found anything else truck specific yet that I need or want to print.

That's awesome. Was just looking this weekend on Amazon for hooks that would work behind the back seat.

Someone should 3d print the below "safe" for the Maverick tail gate insert. Just the big black tail gate insert and cap pieces 3d Printed. People can buy their own chrome bar and lock. Does need a hole to insert the bar.

There's no good place to hide a key in the Maverick. Most Maverick owners could use a place to lock up a spare key, backup credit card, cash or other small valuables. Those without the door keypad would especially need a safe place to hide-a-key. The back of the 2 inch square insert area looks to be about 6 inches long/deep and butts into the spare tire so a cap would be needed to keep water out.

The steel one below ($35-$40) is excellent but an overkill being made of steel. A 3D printed version would still be secure since it would be surrounded by the Mavericks steel square insert. Adding the chrome bar and a lock would make it bullet proof. I would buy a 3d printed one over a steel one. Be glad to be a genny-pig.

Attached is a zip file with the STL files for the above. All parts were printed with PETG filament, solid infill. Let me know if you find this uselful.

The Maverick is a great platform for 3D printing and adding features. The Fits stuff is okay but the freedom to create stuff based on those connectors is the bees knees.

I was so confused seeing the couple pics from the bed thrown in there with the interior pics. I was like "why is it wet?".

Pretty cool stuff. I plan on getting a 3D printer soon. Still doing the research as it's not something I just want to jump into, but it might be the Bambu Lab A1 mini.

For me it would be VERY basic stuff. Would you say that you have "saved" money with yours? I feel like for a while I would just find excuses to print stuff, but I could never see myself just printing totally random trinkets either.

Have I saved money, definitely not considering the price of the printer. That being said I don't regret getting one, it's very useful being able to design and print a part so quickly. I have a decent woodshop in my garage along with some metal fabrication equipment but the 3d printer has its place for small complex parts that don't need a great deal of strength. If I didn't have a printer I would still figure something out, just might take longer and not be as nice

For me personally I wouldn't buy one of I didn't want to learn a CAD software that would allow me to design my own parts, I've been using the free version of Fusion 360. If your not creating your own designs or are patient it would probably be cheaper to use a print service or go to a library that has one.

When looking at printers I would recommend researching filaments and making sure the unit you are looking at is capable of printing them, I've found PETG and TPU most useful.

Last weekend I printed a spacer for my back seat using tpu, I had a rattle that was driving me crazy, after an hour of searching I found that the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the seat were about 1/32" from touching the support below causing a rattle over every bump. I designed a spacer in about 10 minutes, printing took a couple hours, the rattle is gone.

Good luck with your decision. If you buy one it's like they say, if you have a hammer every problem becomes a nail.
