So had to pick this millwork up and drive it a few hours to a job.
24’ trailer about 600lbs of tools, and 5 adult men. 65 mph was stable and smooth. Very happy with it.

Holy overload and oversize. Considering an ATC all aluminum trailer is 3,750# (Yours appears to be steel framed and most likely over 4,000# empty), with 5 guys (Another 1000#?) and cargo you are over by at least 1500#-2000# overweight. Probably double the frontal area allowed too. And you took it on the highway? Wow some brass balls and a bit of a death wish there. You do realize the hitch is bolted to sheet metal right? Glad to hear it was completed without incident.

You say this is not you’re heaviest load, I’m afraid to find out what is!

I'd say that you're probably well over your 4000 pound towing limit, and pushing the 1500 payload as well. Keep it slow and local.

As for frontal area, yeah, probably over the 40 sq feet recommended, but that is not a hard limit imposed - it merely says that performance will be affected in a bad way when you're pushing that much wind.

Brass balls? Death wish? Sounds overly dramatic. In reality, a 6,000 lb 3/4 ton truck will safely tow a 15,000 lb trailer. Towing a 4,500 lb trailer with a 3,700 lb mini truck would be a piece of cake. The 4K towing limit is not because of low vehicle mass and inadequate braking ability, it is because of SAE J2807 towing specifications that says that the truck needs to be able to pull a 12% slope for 11 miles in 100 degree heat with AC on max, without overheating. If you're on a flat route, this load would pose minimal challenge to the maverick.

The Maverick surprises me more and more every day!. That being said, ideal weather conditions, no hills, no severe heat would be the ONLY way I'd take a chance on trying that! Lol

After hearing how dangerous the Maverick is while towing

A guy pulled an 18’ enclosed trailer through the Rockies with a backup Volt battery using a 2013 Volt.

It’s probably about the 5th. I pulled just over 8k lbs of chromebooks in my smaller enclosed trailer from south Texas back to Michigan early summer.
Thai spring I also hauled back just over 6k from NY in the enclosed. Also hauled my 16’ enclosed with my rx8 and all my track gear and fire wood to the track.
This truck really does fine with proper planning and keeping the speed around 65-75. Trailer size is what I notice limits my speed because with wind on the sides.

Might be true if you didn't also have 1,000# of people in the cab.

Well said.
"Ratings" are for comparison purposes.
They are not absolutes.
And contrary to popular belief, there's no law against exceeding them.
It's counterintuitive. But true.
The ratings are what your truck is warranted for.

But you can tow 5,000 lbs safely and you can tow 1,000 lbs unsafely.

Common sense is a lost art.

This is correct. I’ve pointed this out before that the same people that think you should scale every load for β€œsafety” also think it’s ok for someone to buy a 1ton pickup hook up a 50’ massive trailer and run it down the highway because it’s well under the β€œrating” of the truck.
How could anyone think that’s safer than someone who hauls all the time and uses good judgement and safe practices?
No rating will allow a bad driver hauling a load to make it to it’s destination, but a good driver hauling an over rating load can.

That's pretty sweet.

I had a MY2000 Honda Insight.
5 speed manual.
Yes, a manual transmission HYBRID.

It was advertised 70 MPG and I often got more than 80 MPG.
100 MPG was done for whole tanks by more than one owner.

I also had an aftermarket manual controller for the hybrid battery and electric motor. I had "paddle shifters" for regen on demand (kind of like the L button we have) and a paddle shifter for EV mode or electric boost on demand. Fun car. Never had a dime of trouble with it.

I like how he said in the video he "routinely got pulled over" by state troopers - just to have a look at it, but was never given a citation - HECK NO - because it was not breaking any law. The trailer had brakes.

I'd tow that guy's rig with my HYBRID Maverick and it would do it fine. No sweat.

Of course that guy never pulled that over the Rocky Mountains but that's not the point.
