Towing with the ford Maverick from Southern California to the state of Washington was honestly a breeze! So this was that I towed:

4 Cylinder s10 weighing approx - 3040lbs
Uhual trailer - 750lbs
Harbor utility bed - 200-500lbs

So not having a scale to check the Ford Mavericks tow set up I was anywhere from 4000-4300lbs

THE DRIVE:
You obviously feel what you are towing at the back of the Maverick but keeping up to speed at 60 mph here in California was very easy to maintain. Driver confidence was definitely an all-time high with this tow set up. If anything, the bad roads of the freeway in Southern California were more of a worry since the random bumps on the freeway would cause the tow rig to sway, but the Mavericks sway control was excellent in combatting the excessive sway.

Now the video I have linked below starts in central California. The video shows how the Maverick does on flat land, the steep grades, and keeping up at 70mph. I also showed that sleeping in the Maverick is doable especially if you're tired on the side of the road.

Nice tow. Love the compact utility body trucks. I want one for my Comanche but they are few and far between on the islands.

Ford Maverick Towed Trailer & Car Over the 4K Max Towing Limit For 1100 Miles 8E626A28-69AF-49F7-B405-397CE3F22662
Nice video.
I like the shot angle when you had the camera on the S10 looking at your Mav.

I towed this on much the same route as you in October. But only went as far as Southern Oregon. I did this with the hybrid.

I have my Hybrid all setup with an OBDII reader so I had a whole suite of extra gauges. I also have a 7-pin trailer wire, trailer brakes, and digital proportional brake controller installed.

I got 19 MPG going uphill and 21 MPG going downhill. Rarely went over 60 MPH.
The truck and engine power was very capable at 60 MPH. With the air drag of my parachute shaped trailer, 70 MPH would have been a strain on the engine.

Yours was a little heavier but mine had much more wind drag. Work done may have been equal or more on mine!

I was never out of power.

I was probably using 90/191 HP my truck had, most of the time or 47%.

You were probably using 90/250 HP your truck had, most of the time, or 36%.

That's all it takes to tow 60 MPH.
But you need the extra to accelerate, pass, etc.

20 MPG average at 60 MPH
3300 lbs trailer with electric brakes
7x12x9
400 lbs tongue weight
Nothing in bed
450 lbs passengers & cargo in the cab

No sway detected ever.
Most comfortable tow ever.
Did great. Water coolant temp only averaged 20 degrees more than nominal on a 96 degree day. HV battery averaged 105 degrees on a 96 degree day.
Air conditioning on most of the day.
Still net 20 MPG at 60 MPH.

Truck did great!

Great video. Curious if you use premium gas or fully synthetic oil while towing? Thanks.

hmmm, wonder how the fact that your s10 had the rear 2 wheels on the highway effects things vs had it been on a flatbed trailer where all weight is on the trailer- maybe not much but still something to think about.

The Maverick would still be pulling all the weight down the road.
