I've had this for over a year but thought some people might be interested in how I did my engine bay lighting. It works fantastic, so much light!

Harbor freight LED wired straight from Battery with a fuse and a switch with an LED indicator.

Light was attached to hood with rivnuts and stainless steel hardware.

Looks awesome! No issues with the heat from the engine?
The only issue I had was the zip tie mount things, they couldn't deal with the heat, so I used a small amount of heat resistant rtv on them and have had no issues.

The light has some serious heavy duty construction. Been well over a year with no issues.

I completed a similar mod making use of two short lengths of LEDs. I ran my wires to my cabin overhead. switch panel.

I spent a lot of time with hoods open. Used, cheap vehicles and lots of DIY.
Now I buy new and my hood-open-time is 99% reduced.

TL;DR - don't think I need to do this lighting mod
Its not a Ford if you arent under the hood all the time ;)

Thanks for the motivation, I've got a KC hi-lites cyclone that I bought years ago and never used that would be perfect for this mod.

Looks great, what kind of hood brackets are you using and have you had any issues with them
