I used X plan to purchase a Maverick a few days ago. This X plan was generated from a membership with a " club / organization " not a individual. It saved me around $400 off the MSRP of the truck and limited the dealer to only charging me $100 in DOC fees rather than their usual $800 fee.

I intended to resell the truck to someone else, and asked the dealer to not even bother tagging and registering the truck for me, to instead just title it. ( I paid cash for the truck btw, no loans or liens involved ). They insisted I would have to register the truck in order to use the X plan.

Yesterday the dealer contacted me, asking for a copy of my membership card to this club, so they could finalize the X plan paperwork. While on the phone with the dealer I asked how long do I have to keep the truck registered in my name before I could sell it to someone else and he told me 6 months. I asked what happens if I sell it sooner than that ( I didn't tell him I already sold it... ) and he said I would likely get a bill from Ford.

I looked at the fine print that came with my X plan Pin email and no where on it did I see any limitations on how long I had to keep the truck registered in my name.

I am just seeking any clarification on how this works.

I have bought and sold Xplan vehicles many times over the last 20 years, It's just like when you finance with ford and they tell you you have to at least keep it financed with them for a certain amount of time before you can refinance , all bull hockey. You can sell or refinance within days. You do have to register in your name though that is true. I also Called just now and talked to the guy I get my X-plan certificate number from, he is retired Ford. He says there is no limit to how long you have to keep it.

He's mentioning the x-plan rules under Financing, Insurance, Titles and Taxes:

Titling eligibility is as follows:
o Vehicles must be retained in the customer's possession and registered as provided above for at least six months from the date of purchase or lease, unless otherwise stated in an official Contests & Incentives announcement or Program.
o Individuals:
▪ Vehicles must be registered or titled to the Partner Recognition XPlan eligible individual.
This is pulled from the x-plan latest program rules (effective September 2023)

Technically you are supposed to keep them for 6 months in the X-plan holders name and have it registered.
But don't worry about the X-plan Cops knocking on your door in the middle of the night!
Usually what happens, if anything, is the person is no longer eligible for X-plan ( or other plans) going forward.

How would Ford even know? they don't have people who go out and track every Xplan sale in every state and a state is npot obligated to report the sale back to the manufacturer and they don't. I usually buy a new truck every year and I still get notifications from Ford about trucks i haven't owned in years. I have also sold acouple well within the six months of buying them and haven't been restricted from using the Xplan yet.

Yeah the dealer can't do anything to force you to keep it.

Ford might stop you from getting X-Plan in the future, but you are not the first person to do this and certainly won't be the last.

The beauty of X-Plan is that basically anyone qualifies for it with a little effort. From Ford's point of view there would be no need game the X-Plan system for them.

Well I hope that doesn't happen. I have another X plan pin, this one generated from a buddy of mine that is a retired Ford employee that I plan to use to buy my " keeper " maverick that is scheduled to be built late next month. I don't expect to see that truck show up on the dealers lot till late November. The X plan on this truck saved me exactly $447.78 off the MSRP, plus the DOC fee discount. The other one saves me a little more, $569.01 plus doc fee discounts.

Whats crazy is X plan knocked off over 3 grand off MSRP on the 2022 F250 Lariat I bought in April of 22...

If I am blacklisted I don't know if I care too much. I don't intend to buy anymore new trucks for a little while after the Nov truck comes in.

This is interesting about the X plan.
But I agree, you're not going to have the X plan police knocking on your door, Ford can't find their ass with both hands how are they even going to know this?
Interesting...
What about the Farm Bureau $500 discount?
It seems that saves a little more than the X plan.
Can they be used together?
Is there a simular restriction?
I think if there is and you have insurance thru them it could be a problem.

There are people that follow the rules and people that don't. Just like everything else.

Just like those complaining about paying over sticker for a Maverick.
Then sell one for more than they paid for it! All good.

The x-plan is optional by the dealer. Did not know about x-plans when I order my Maverick and a month afterwards asked it they would sell with x-plan. They ended up selling the truck to me at invoice and under a $400 Doc fee and was very happy. My daughter order a Maverick from the same dealership and said they do not normally take x-plan, but would since we are a prior customer.

My concern , via registration, Ford knows about the vehicles as insurance companies. If there is any blow back by Ford, then would feel bad if the dealer stop accepting x-plan pricing.

Oh and BTW, since you paid cash there would be no lienholder notification in case it would be Ford Credit. wouldn't think Ford and Ford Credit would talk to each other. Besides, if the vehicle was totaled the same thing would happen and i doubt anyone would notice. Seems like an unenforceable clause to me, but I would love to hear from someone that sold a car within 6 months and was blackballed or other repercussions.

Any of the plans, A X Z, require that you keep the vehicle 6 months. My wife bought a Focus with A-plan (her second Focus) but after a month she decided she didn't like it. She traded it in on and Escape: never heard a word from Ford about the short time of ownership.
