Hi,

I know we can't tow much, but was wondering if there was a trailer that might work for long term traveling?

We looked at a couple but I wasn't impressed. Coleman 17 and 13 I believe. I believe if only they had more of a murphy style bed/couch it would've helped a lot round out the living space. I've seen them in larger trailers. The salesman said he didn't know of any in the lighter trailers, but I imagine he's limited by what he has.

5000 miles and so far I really like this little truck.

I know of a retired dude who has towed one of these (17’ Spirit Deluxe) around Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc. He tows with a 2024 Maverick XLT EB 2.0, and has the 4k package. Says great things about both vehicle and RV. He says biggest problem is his mpg drops from about 24/25 to around 18 when towing the trailer.

Also, if you do a search for Casita on YouTube, there are many clips from people showing their Casitas.
Thanks, that alone got me started down a path to other similar trailers to look at as well. Nucamp, Scamp, and Escape.

I highly recommend Scamp. We have a 16 foot Deluxe Scamp and weighs only 2200 pounds empty. With our gear loaded, it usually weighs 2900 pounds for my wife and I. We get 18-21 mpg, depending on the wind conditions.

2750 lbs without water.
$15,000
Entry level build quality but roomy and has everything. Huge bathroom.
Fine for a couple plus one kid if you use the dinette for sleeping.

We looked at something like that. It looks like from your diagram however it has spots to hang clothes next to the bed. The one we looked at didn't. I liked that it had a couple empty spaces under the bed and I think dinette. I was thinking for a place to keep the cat box.

That's probably more realistic, but I would've been more excited about it, if that bed folded up to the wall to reveal a sofa. Probably would've been sold if it had that.

I saw one of these at Camping World. Its a Toy hauler with murphy bed and a hybrid pop out bed. The bathroom is tiny and you have to turn sideways to get through the door. There is a ton of living space when the bed is up.

I imagine this is wishful thinking. The hitch weight alone is getting up there, but for the the type of traveling (3 or 6 months at a location then moving along). How much stuff does a person really cram into these trailers?

The Rpod 192 seems to have a great layout and features for more long-term stays. The empty weight is up there a bit, but I'm wondering if you empty the tanks between moving, fresh, gray, and black you could potentially be just under the 4k limit.

Thoughts?

If you only travel on flat land, you would be okay. I would not pull this trailer in the mountains though...
