Is there a Metal Skid Plate that is a direct bolt o for a 2023 XLT 2.0 ? I do not like the cheap felt one it came with. Thanks for your help

I have both of these Rival products and discovered that the tailpipe hits the right rear inboard CV axle boot if the muffler gets dragged over some fill dirt in my yard. To the tune of $853 at the FORD dealer to be exact. That is considered billable collision damage and not warranty work. This hybrid might be getting a muffler size reduction and a Swiss cheese looking ventilated guard if I decide to keep it. This truck is loaded with very startling glitches! That tailpipe issue is just plain poor engineering if you ask me. So who really needs a muffler that's big enough for a school bus? Perhaps I'll like knowing when my engine is running, lol. The funny thing is that I can't even see a scrape on my muffler and nothing is dented or scratched underneath.

Can you share pics so I understand the issue? I have a 26 hybrid and was considering getting those but not quite following.

I don't think the cardboard, horsehair, whatever, is a skid plate. I think it's an air-dam, noise suppressor, anti mud shield, etc. If you skid the OEM cover into a rock or other solid object, it will self destruct and fall off or drag under the truck. I have had skid plates on Jeeps and 4x4 made from steel that actually protect transfer cases and transmissions. That's a skid plate that will support full vehicle weight. I think I will look into the aluminum cover metioned in this discussion.

I managed to run over a concrete block in the middle of a construction zone - it rolled around under the truck taking out a tier / rim / and then the fuel evaporator canister. -- Maybe it was a once in a lifetime thing, but I'm tempted to get this just for piece of mind!
