It just occurred to me that sometimes I do not wish to connect CarPlay right off the bat. Does this device give me the opportunity to not connect?
I’m not sure but you could simply just unplug the unit from the USB port in your truck and that would prevent your phone from connecting to CarPlay

Thank you for the suggestion and you are absolutely correct. You may have missed that I was responding to a member who had posted how to install a device whereby plugging in your phone was not needed to use CarPlay. The device used Bluetooth to connect and if one had that device installed, then one's phone would go to CarPlay automatically. There are times when I would rather not have CarPlay on my screen and that prompted my comment.

I think they were saying to unplug the device, not your phone.
Regardless, you could turn off Bluetooth and Wifi on your phone and it wouldn't be able to connect to the device as well.
Then just turn them back on when you wanted to connect.

Good grief! How did I miss that!? Thank you for clarifying that for me. I'm sure that's exactly what was meant.

I went and ordered this Ottocast Wireless CarPlay Adapter for iPhone - 2022 Upgrade Wired to Wireless Apple Carplay Dongle - 5GHz WiFi, Low Latency, Easy-to-Install, Plug & Play Will let you know if it works
Got this in today and can confirm it works with Lariat w/Lux and iPhone 12. Took me about 5 mins to make it all work.

I have a Lariat without luxury package (the only version that comes to Brazil). Have bought a KOBANOICA adapter on Amazon (70 bucks), and did not worked. My Maverick comes with Sync 2.5.
Just for you to know!
