Purchased the OTTOCAST U2-NOW and installed in 4 days ago. So far it has been working with no issues at all. Very minor delay (ex. maybe less than a second for selecting pause/play and it performing the action) Took less than 5 minutes to set up. Very pleased with it since I prefer the cleaner look without a cord right all tangled up and plugged in. Installed it with some double sided tape so it’s up & out of sight. Plan to throw on a 90 degree usb cable for a slightly cleaner look but waiting until I find the one I had laying around the house instead of purchasing a new one. Very happy with the performance & I’ll update this thread if i run into any issues.

Does your Lariat have the luxury package? I’m looking to get something to add wireless to mine but I have the luxury package which has Sync 3.

I was thinking of order one for my lariat with the lux package, but the number of comments about the amount of lag was enough for me to take a pass for now.

I was thinking of doing this too but I only use carplay on the rare occaisions where I don't know exactly where I'm going. Plugging in the phone once a month doesn't seem like too big a problem right now. Nonetheless, if there is a lag-less and affordable wireless option it very well could be added. Reviews seem a bit too mixed at this point to make the move.

I have the Lariat w/lux pack and I believe you still need to hard wire the phone to us Car Play.

Very odd that the Ottocast only works with the Lariat. I wonder if it's because the XL's and XLT's aren't using the Sync3

Probably so I tried Ottocast , car2play, and they didn’t work but my wife’s car had an older car2play 2018 and that one worked on the xl

Make sure you get the 2017-2022 version. The 2019-2022 model is the OLDER version. I ordered the 19-22 model, I had a problem with it and the company said the 17-22 model is the newer one. I've had it for a few weeks now and it works great with the Lariat. Also, It's critical that you DO NOT update the software. If it works, leave it alone.

I have a Lariat Lux hybrid with about 1,100 miles on it and since day 1 have had a Carlinkit 3.0 wireless CarPlay dongle setup. Got it for around $60-65 on Amazon when it was on sale and also had a clipped coupon available. Have not had a single issue with it at all since I got the Maverick. In my previous car (2018 Mazda6) it would freeze up, disconnect, need rebooted a few times a week. I stopped using it the last few weeks I owned my Mazda.

I don’t know how it works with different trim levels and packages, and like any product, I’m sure there are duds. But for me, it’s been flawless so far with the lariat Lux Sync 3 — so I can give it a positive review for anyone looking at all the options.

*I have an iPhone 11 with iOS15*

Very minor lag. I don’t even notice it to be honest. Way better than having the cords laying around right in the front there where I want to keep my water bottle / other items without the cord hanging. Looks cleaner in my opinion as well

It just occurred to me that sometimes I do not wish to connect CarPlay right off the bat. Does this device give me the opportunity to not connect?
