I have a 2024 Ford maverick lariat. It didn’t come with wireless CarPlay or ambient lighting for the tray. I added pictures below. The last photo shows there may be a slight risk to wire. I did not want to alter the parts, so I just left it as is.

Cool idea. I agree that panel-pinching is not a good long-term idea for the wire. Won't burn the truck down or anything if it shorts, but it will be a hassle.

If you *did* want to alter parts, it would not take much. I think something like a 3.5mm hole or even a semicircle in the panel piece you pulled out, right at the edge where it meets the dash. Seems like it'd be hard to even see, and if you did it well enough, it would look factory-ish anyway.

See photo. Drill hole underneath. No one will ever see it. I did it on my Lariat to foute a charging cable to the cubby (see second photo). Remove the dash panel ABOVE the charching row, and drill DOWN, not up from underneath. That way you can drill around the USP sockets and obstacles.

Could you let me see some pictures?
I don't have them yet. The link in my post above shows the cables, you can see how they turn 90 degrees down so you don't have the cable extending rearward then down.

Edit: Art has a similar set in the photos above.

I'm not at my truck to take a picture, you can get a USB A right angle to the left. Wrap the wire down alongside the left lower trim piece the USB ports are in. Then stash you adapter inside that area where USB wires are. It's not very noticable when your done. This leave the USB C port still available to plug in if needed.

I'll try to remember to edit my post and attach a picture after work.
