Window Motor and Switch Issue

I received my Maverick XLT Hybrid in Early May this year and enjoyed it.

However, in June, there was a problem with the rear passenger window and it won't go back up. Due to job travel, I put it off till August to bring it into the dealership, it turns out it was a faulty window motor. The dealership took a long time to have the motor special ordered and shipped because of where I'm located and the rarity of the MAverick. I live in Guam and my maverick is the first one on the island.

Fast forward to now, my truck went into their shop to have the motors replaced. However, they found another problem with the window switch and told me both the driver's front window switch and the rear passenger one needed to be replaced.

I want to know if this is a common issue amongst other Maverick owners or did I just got really unlucky.

Looks like the cause can be a bad window switch but severe cases can involve the switch going out then burning out the window motor since it’s acting as if you’re continuously pushing the switch to go down.

luckily I had someone skilled at the dealership check it out and not just slap new parts on lol

Sucks, it seems it’s not that of a common problem maybe 2/100 in daily production at the plant is affected. My father has a late build 22’ XL and he has no problems with anything. Mines specifically is an early build so, maybe it’s an early build thing?

I would think it is because my order went in and was built JAN/FEB 2022.

it seems that the Window switch (especially on the driver's side) has an issue. I know several owners that have had to have it replaced. I think they got a bad batch of switches from China.

When I use the driver controls and the rear driver's controls I can hear the motor making a grinding noise. The window moves slightly up and down but it really struggles. And I don't want to make it worse.

Sounds like the plastic gears in regulator.

Yes, I'm guessing that's probably it. What's the best course of action? I couldn't find anything really on YouTube to diy. Am I hosed and have to pay a pretty penny at the dealership?

I acknowledge the fact that there are no YouTube videos of how to replace the regulator.
Once you verify that it is the regulator.
Watch this video on how to remove the door panel. Granted it's the passenger side same procedure should be for the driver side.
At this point if you feel relatively confident that you can unbolt and rebuilt in the new parts
You may want to order the proper part. Making sure that it is for a driver side rear window.


Remember to have your phone handy to take plenty of pictures or video while you're taking stuff apart.

Basically I'm saying if you can replace a light switch or replace a garage door opener. Not install one from beginning, but replace an old with a new one. You should be fine
You're replacing old parts with new parts they occupy the same place in the door you're not modifying anything.
Take it slow and methodical.
Patience, time and reference pictures.

You're replacing old parts with new parts they occupy the same place in the door you're not modifying anything. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time and patience. Take it slow and methodical.
