The hybrid and Ecoboost mavericks are both on lists as being some of the most reliable vehicles you can buy for their price. Both made a list of reliable vehicles for under 35k, the hybrid has made it to lists of most reliable hybrid vehicles, and was recently voted as having some of the lowest ownership and maintenance costs out there.

Some people have issues, keep in mind, while we've seen some complaints on both powertrains on these forums, it's literally a hub for people who have issues. The probability of encountering people with issues on the forums is much higher than encountering people with issues in the real world.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by others here, the reality is, you never know with life. Your vehicle could go out tomorrow, or last 20 years. Just like you could live to be 100, or die as a toddler, there is no logic or fairness to life. You just have to appreciate it while it's good, and for now, it sounds like it's going well for most of us.

Good vehicle maintenance will go a long way. Change your engine oil regularly with good quality oil and get the intake valves cleaned every 60,000-80,000 miles and you can probably get 150,000-200,000 miles out of an Eco Boost motor, keeping good clean oil to the turbo is key. Just my opinion but Turbo engine oil changes should be done at or before 5,000 miles.

Proper maintenance is the key we have a ford explorer with over 450,000 miles still runs and starts fine we do change the oil every 3,000 miles only changed the a/c compressor and water pump that’s it Very reliable
