I have had a few people ask why I drive a Hybrid and I bought my son an EB.

Well there are a few reasons for that. I bought my 25 Hybrid Fwd for myself. One was cause it was on the lot (I would have loved the AWD version) I got a great deal on it, and it gets great MPG for my daily work and commutes. I waited until the 25 because I was hoping most the kinks were out of it by then, and it seems like that is the case. They upgraded the CV Axles supposedly, and the 12V issues seems to be fixed with software and an AGM battery. I guess we will wait and see, but I have 17k miles and 3 recalls (2 software, 1 a clip for airbag indicator light)

When looking for one for my son I knew I had to get a rebuilt title to fit our budget as these things still demand a premium even with high mileage on them. With a rebuilt title you can get about 40% off the Bluebook value of them, and most are minor fender benders that the insurance deems a total cause they make more money off the vehicle that way. After all the research I did on the bugs of the 22-24 I came to the conclusion there still isn't a real fix for the 12v sleep issue on the hybrids, and there isn't a real fix for the CV axles on the hybrid yet. (just keep replacing the 12v and the CV axles). The EB seem to have CV axle issues, but you can replace them with Tremor axles and they are more robust. The only other 2 issues seem to be when you don't do the transmission maintenance or the GDI cleaning of the valves.

So looking at all of this I opted for a 22 EV Fwd XL with 51k miles on it. Basically we've already put 1k miles on it, and I was able to add cruise, LKA, TSR to it as well. Him and I are about to do the services to it, GDI cleaning, Trans drain and fill, Belt, Plugs, Oil and filter, PCV valve Air filter, Cabin Air filter, add a catch can. The brakes appear to be in good shape, not sure when or if they were done, and the coolant tested out good. Not sure there is much more that needs to be done. He will need 2 rear tires soon, but since Fwd we have a bit of time for that.

If any other maintenance is suggested I am all ears!

I read somewhere where the recommended just trans fluid change and not to flush it. Someone else want to comment on this.

Flush, drain fill, depends on how you do it. Some people flush it by filling and draining multiple times. Some people like the drive through oil change places flush it by unhooking lines and pressurizing it, this is what people are recommending against and I agree. I personally just drain and fill. (If the trans filter was accessible I would change it too, but it's not). Sorry for the confusion.
