Why are there two temperatures displayed?

I can't find anything in the manual regarding the two temperatures. But I believe you are right. I'll test this by making the cabin colder by opening the window and shutting the heat off.

The phone agrees with the 57. Someone else suggested it is inside temperature, which sound right to me. But I can't find anything regarding this in the manual.

One is the setting of the interior cabin ( turn your dial and you will see it change) the other is the outside ambient temperature.

One is the temperature in Hermosillo, Mexico and the other is the temperature at Jim Farley's house.
