When I look up a Maverick in the FORD parts catalog, it's listed under the car section, not trucks. So, to answer your question, FORD says it's a car.

After driving mine for almost 3 years I miss my good old 2000 Ranger.
To be fair Ford also thought going balls deep in the ev game was good idea

The only real downside to the maverick is the tow rating, as we all know, it's not particularly high. But beyond that, the maverick can do basically anything larger trucks can do. It's a affordable, sensible, capable and reliable truck, basically a modern day 90s ranger, but better in just about every way.

I wouldn't recommend one for someone who was constantly towing or hauling heavy loads. But beyond that, it's a great truck.

It's a truck. The function, not the construction determines a vehicle. Is a minivan not a van because it is unibody and it is smaller than a full size, body on frame van?

Lets see. A pickup like an F-150 (1) has a bed (2) can tow stuff (3) has some off road capability.
and the Maverick (1) has a bed (2) can tow stuff (3) has some off road capability. Sounds the same to me. Where does it say a pickup HAS to be built on a frame? There a rule book or something I haven't seen?

There's an inverse relationship between the size of your member and the size of your truck. The smaller your shlong, the larger your truck. I rest my case.

I had a 1990 Ranger standard cab long bed with a four cylinder, RWD and five speed manual. I loved that truck. It did everything I wanted in terms of work and getting around my small home town. Not to mention it had one of the most comfortable seats I can recall of any of my past vehicles. It was slow and had no power but I drove it all over! While that truck was perfect for my 20’s, the Maverick is ideal for my 40’s. Fits my family. Still lets me haul stuff for projects at my house and my work today doesn’t demand a full length bed. I appreciate both for what they represented at both times of my life.

Nobody says that.
I wish that were true, people get really whiny about the Maverick on literally any site that isn't here or another Mav focused group.

I haven't even got mine yet and my brother is already on with the stupid comments about why I didn't get a "real" truck or how I should have waited 12-18 months and paid $15,000 more for a Tacoma because they're "better".
Although, this is a guy who has crapped on every Toyota I've ever owned so I'm very used to ignoring him but I already know he isn't going to be the last person to tell me how I should have spent my money.

The only downside is it can get caught up around the knee in the winter

The high rack I installed makes the bed size less relevant. On, this video, I hauled a 10 ft post from Home Depot in Park City. The trucks around me had 5 ft to 6.5 ft beds so they could not even do that.

Both my compact unibody trucks work hard almost every time I drive them.

If you took a snapshot in 1940 you'd have assumed Germany was going to win the war.
I’m not sure sure that ever was the case in the USA unless you meant if we didn’t get involved.
Plus ev may not even be the future the leadership at Toyota seems to think ev is not going to be the future but efficiency in the ice development is. As much as I think that company gets to much credit for durability based on past models they seem to actually get the trends and trajectory of the industry right far more than anyone else.
Anyway I have always had trucks and after the past week of towing and off-roading in some very rough country I can tell you it is a truck.
