You don't, IF most of your miles are highway miles. You averaged about 70 mph and registered almost 37 mpg, per display. I drive about 85 percent highway and the potential gas savings were not enough to overcome what I think is better overall performance and less recalls and no deep sleep mode messages!! (y) :) Depends on how you plan to use the truck....

Isn't that like asking who NEEDS a Maverick. Answer no body.

It gets down to wants.

There was one time I was driving on the state highway and drove over an hour out of town. By the time I arrived, I averaged 38 mpg, and that's with AWD! I was so impressed! My most fuel efficient vehicle ever. However, it's a totally different story in the city which is where most of my driving takes place. I typically average 23-24 mpg which is nowhere near as good as what it can do on the highway. That's where the hybrid makes sense. However, I didn't want it since the truck will eventually move to a cold, northern climate so I had to get AWD. Also, the horror stories when the first hybrids were released scared me away from them. As nice as it would be to average 35-40 mpg at all times, I'm willing to sacrifice for better reliability and capability.

Exactly. I just ordered a 24 with AWD. Between the recalls and issues with the hybrid, plus the price increase, it wasn’t worth it. $1,500 more for turbo power plus AWD was an easy decision.

True. I am almost all highway miles or suburban roads, very little city driving. The hybrid has its place for sure but given the recalls and issues with it along with the price hike, paying an extra $1500 for AWD and turbo is an easy choice for me. Just ordered a 24 AWD to go along with the FWD one.

It is, this was more of a fun post. I’m glad the hybrid exists, now they just need an AWD one if they ever work the kinks out of the hybrid.

The way I see it my turbo gets waaay better mileage than my Ranger but my commute is short so I really don't care about it. I'm in for the style and preformance
I put 300K miles on a Ranger and this is so true. It was a 2.5 4cyl with the stick and it was dog slow but never needed anything.

I don’t think I would add the awd with my Hybrid but I wouldn’t say no to it being available for others to order.

That’s great mileage. You can do really well with those ecoboost engines on the highway.

Fuelly or 36.9 didn't happen 🤡

If I drive totally normal I get 42 mpg in the hybrid. Where I live I never drive on the highway. 55 is pretty much the max I do on my country roads. My biggest hit to mpg is my 3 mile drive up hill to work; going back home it's 3 miles down hill.

I tried to hyper mile it in slippery mode, Fuelly says I only got 45mpg doing that. I did have to drive normal a few times and haul a few heavy loads on that tank. I don't get how people can get 50+ out of the hybrid unless it's rolling down every hill or pulsing to 50, gliding to 0, pulsing to 50, gliding to 0, pulsing to 50, gliding to 0, loose your mind, it's maddening enough trying to watch the hybrid meter to glide in slippery mode. There should just be a 'Hyper' mode for hyper hypermiling so you don't go crazy staring at the gauge cluster's hybrid power meter.

I'll still take 42 over that lying 36.9 (it's actually probably 34 if you did the math on paper or Fuelly, truck's computer lies). 8 mpg difference is big over the life of the vehicle.

I don't drive much, have had my Maverick since Tuesday, had 20 miles when delivered, 18 miles to my house. Total now is 147.
Wow, that’s more than me this week. I pick mine up Monday and I now have 128 miles🤣
