dealer employees get " D"plan. ( normally better than Xplan )
There was no D plan when I sold Fords...X, Y and another...don't think it was Z.

How can a D plan be better? X plan was dealer net cost after their 3% holdback. On an F series the markup was about 12- 15% plus the holdback depending on trim level and options. XL's had less markup than an Eddie Bauer pkg.

A loaded EB could have an X plan discount approaching $3500 +.

Maybe things have changed. But I know that Ford has cut margins over the years as they feel if the dealers want to give away these vehicles without making any $$$ we will just cut the markup and make that money ourselves.
That plan was alive and well in '96 when I walked away from the business... my old boss bitched about the end of any real money being made just a couple years later.

We ran an old school dealer where a handshake and your last name got you a build date without any $$$ changing hands...all on good faith.

I sold there for six years...one customer bought five F150's from me in those six years.

That ended when the dealership was sold to an out of town dealer network. My new GM thought every customer had STUPID written across their forehead. He came from a big city dealer where there were many two income, high dollar union incomes.

Our area had one good wage foundry and a slew of minimum wage and mid level incomes.

I always said our customers were so cheap they got three estimates for a haircut!

I decided it was time to leave after my five purchase F150 customer got a $14,000 trade in appraisal from my GM on his one year old $29,000 F series with 6,000 miles on it.

That was $14k off of a new $30,000 '97 Eddie Bauer F150. $16,000 for a one year trade! I was trading him for $4k and still made $2500 on the new truck and selling his almost new trade for $24k.

Ancient history I know...

Anywho we bought our Maverick for invoice strictly because I was formerly in the biz...I guess my old stories of deals gone bad and my knowledge of the car bidness helped.

This was the last new vehicle in our family...ever.

What was the last new model year you were selling Fords?

I’m new here so I apologize for asking stupid questions.

I ordered a 2025 Lariat from my local dealer about a month ago (42,500, out the door).
The locals claim, Louisburg FORD, Louisburg, Kansas... South of Kansas City... Will order a Ford and they Charge only $50 over Factory INVOICE...They will show you factory invoice too....
I actually went there maybe 2 years ago and verified the claim, but didn't order because the salesman told me the hybrid was no longer the base engine. I wanted a no option base model then. It turned out he was right..

Here in Wichita KS, these dealers are bandits..

I bought mine in Metro Detroit, where I was born and raised... I took advantage of Immediate Family Employee plan and bought right off the lot 2 months ago.. I scouted dealer inventory on Ford.com, then narrowed it to 2-3 dealers, then sent my sister who retired just last month on a recon mission.. August-September-October you can find year end deals.. I drove my trade up to Detroit, with a cashiers check. the price on the new one minus what I wanted for my trade. She put the paperwork through for the employee plan. Ford, not the dealer then determines the price. The dealer offered me pawn shop even lower than carmax for my trade. That was an insult but I expected it. Carlax had my trade on their lots for 3 times the offer the dealer made. . So I paid the difference cash and sold my trade to a nephew replenish my savings. My nephew loves the car.. as it was 1 owner and he got it cheep..

So believe me I should go collect me $10,000 the local dealers will give you if they can't beat your best deal... Cause I did it.. and Got to drive the maverick Detroit back to Wichita, 1200 miles than changed the break in motor oil with Mobile 1 Full synethic.. Been using it 40+ years..

What kind of discount or price does the X-plan have for the Maverick?
about a grand on a $40k maverick.

The deal was net/net... dealer invoice minus the 3% dealer holdback $$$ that was paid back to the dealer every 90 days.
Current is invoice -.4%+375 program fee +$100 (max) doc fee. Probably a sad fee there, too.

I'm paying about a grand less on granger pricing, invoice -3% +180 doc fee (oh, and about $30 for he temporary license tag)

I bought ours @ invoice...roughly $1600 off the sticker on an XLT FX4... not a high dollar truck.

I’m new here so I apologize for asking stupid questions.

I ordered a 2025 Lariat from my local dealer about a month ago (42,500, out the door). Since then, I’ve been seen post on here about Granger and how they have the best pricing.

Can someone enlighten me as to who this is and if I should be getting a quote from them?

Thank you!
😀
The FASTEST answer is often just to go to Google on most everything. Took two seconds to type in "Granger Ford" and found out it's in Iowa. Not being a jerk. Just reminding everyone the option to do a search first before posting. :)

So I was this many days old when I heard about this Granger and the discounts. I ordered my 25 Mav on 3 Dec from my local southern Illinois dealership. They supposedly have a non-refundable $500, but I don't know if they would enforce it. There is no supposed markup on their Mavs either, and I don't see what negotiating they would be inclined to do since I wanted it, I built it, and by the time I get it, will have waited a considerable time for it. I've negotiated for cars in the past, and it's considerably easier when you walk off the street, and they know the car means nothing to you personally. There's an understanding I can buy a car, any car, from somewhere else. While still true here, I've already ordered it from them and put a deposit down.

So my question is:
A) Is the juice worth the squeeze to try and change where I ordered my Mav from at this point, and
B) If I did, how much would I be saving approximately?

FWIW, I have an excellent credit rating, and I have USAA. If it's just a few hundred dollars, it won't be worth coming from the St. Louis area to pick it up in gas and time. Just interested in the thoughts of those who have used Granger in the past. Thanks.

This is my invoice if you want comparison.

also join Illinois farmer bureau for $20 and in 30 days you can get a code that takes 500 more off.

my invoice has, 495 upcharge color, moonroof, 4K, bed extender, tonneau, take another 500 off and I’m at like 39.8k - my local dealer is full msrp, and like 380 doc fees and stuff.

The difference would be about 2,500.

I would be more concerned with that priority code, which at 19 means you’re sitting at the back of the line for your dealer’s allocations.

Seriously $2,500? If that's true, that's a lot. As for the priority code, not much I can do about that.
