I'm looking at getting some paint protection film on Amazon, specifically to install aftermarket splash guards and fender flares. I'm thinking a tape style roll will work best, but I'm seeing rolls from 1/2" to 2" wide. I'm leaning toward a 2" twenty foot roll. I guess it's just the areas around the fender that would be at risk of rubbing, so 2" wide might be overkill. Anyone done this job, and which size PPF worked best?

I would try and find a local PPF shop and get some from them. They will have plenty of scrap film around and might even give you enough for your needs.

Bought this one. 6 month ago. No issue. Installed on fenders and hood lip.

I live in a Third World country -- seriously, a small rural town in the Colorado mountains. No such animal here, not even a local spray in bedliner place. Nearest Ford Dealers are 1.5 hour drive, whether travelling east or west. My Maverick dealer is on the other side of the Continental Divide!

I feel you. It is not going to be easy to finish the end curve corners of the hood but it is doable. The picture from another member looks good and the price is not bad. I think I paid more than that.

No bubbles under. Ohh yeah you gonna need heat gun, silicone spatula (don't tell your wife), and spray bottle with full of water and spoon of fish soap.

You can actually buy precut kits for the Maverick on Xpel's website.

https://www.xpel.com/paint-protecti...ars--AND--Light-Trucks/2023/Ford/Maverick/XLT

Not cheap for some parts, but the stuff is all cut to fit. So if you wanted to protect the paint over the front wheels, they sell a hood & fender kit. Also sell an A-Pillar & partial roof kit (more chips on the roof than you'd think, ask me how I know 😖). Just an option since it's all cut to fit the contours of the hood. 👍

Whoa. $1000 to cover the hood, fenders and mirrors seems a bit steep. I'd maybe pay half that. Then you have to put it on and not screw it up. They'd have to come to my house and put it on for that kind of dough. Does ceramic coating protect the paint from chips or is it more to keep it looking pretty? I can get a ceramic coating (5yr with free annual maintenance) and undercoating for about $1000. The shop has excellent reviews and a good reputation, so I'm not worried it's a scam. 😬

These are my thoughts as well. I really only want the PPF around my fenders to prevent the splash guards and fender flares from rubbing through the paint. I'd love to get a professional ceramic treatment, but no local shops offer it so that may not happen soon. I do think even the DIY spray ceramic technology is far superior to old school wax, so I'll at least be doing that several times a year.
