Where are these used 2026 Mavericks coming from?

My local Ford dealer shows seven used 2026 Mavericks for sale. All are very low mileage trucks, the highest having 4600 miles.
I'm wondering where these trucks came from? My guess is they were used as loaner cars. But if used as loaner, why not keep using them as loaners. Why sell them?

It's not an important question, but does make me curious.

They are demos. My local dealership had a couple of them on their lot.

I'm guessing these are "factory demos" that Ford used and gave to dealers at a huge discount.

Walked a dealers lot yesterday, they have a '25 Tremor on the lot with a Demo sticker on it, 3.600 miles, but the discount they are offering certainly doesn't represent a nearly 2-year old vehicle with miles on it,,,,,

I got a 2026 XL as a loaner while the dealership worked on my old F150. They told me if I got close to 4k in miles to bring it back to swap out so that must be a magic number for them somehow.

It sold like 3 days after I brought it back. Ordered my own the same day.

This dealer doesn't like to give discounts. About a year ago I was there and came close to buying a Maverick. The salesman didn't want to negotiate on the price, even though he knew I bought two new cars from that dealer in the past. Just as we were about to ink the deal, the salesman hit me with $1300 in extras that I didn't want or need. When he refused to remove the items I walked out.

Walking away is sometimes the best option.
If they manage to move their inventory, they don't need to discount their prices.

If you see how long a vehicle has been sitting on the lot, and that's been a few months, it could be a different story. Shopping at end of month / end of quarter is also a good time to get discounts.
