I chose the Maverick because I could just afford to buy it outright after taxes and warranty etc. I could have bought some else but it would not fit my lifestyle as nicely as the Mav does.

In my neck of the woods there are lots of luxury vehicles but most of this area is made up of generational homes with many family members paying for the home so the younger ones have money to burn.
I did the same thing but just recently got the warranty as well. Which btw there was zero incentive to put on a monthly payment plan since they don't report to credit bureaus (Granger & BudCo). My budget before the Maverick was for two vehicles, and had prices not skyrocketed I likely would have gone with a $50k vehicle and payed on it for a couple years. But not with the current interest rates or what you are getting for $50k. Pre-COVID that $50k would have gotten you a full size truck with every single option they offer on the nicest one. Now it gets you a base model with nothing. It's insane. And it won't hold up either. 5-10 years from now the people buying those $50k base model trucks are going to regret it when they go to sell them.

I couldn't imagine being some of these younger ones in our economy... and I am not "old" by any sense of the word either. I'm not even 40 yet (39). Mortgages have more than doubled and if you add educational debt on top of it... no wonder they are all so angry and lashing out constantly. Instead of buying into higher education with the promise of better consideration for jobs, they are buying into hedge funds with no return on investment.

People do NEED vehicles in the majority of this country since our public transportation is a joke and always has been. I'm seeing more young people living at home with the folks and buying new vehicles because that's all they can afford to do. Might as well have something new and under warranty if you can't afford to do anything else.

Careful, those kind of statements will attract the "pull yourself up by your boot straps, slacker" type folks. I got into an argument with a forum member over the state of the economy, and how absolutely awful it is for younger people. Even showing him median income vs. cost of living now vs. years ago just didn't process for him. I'm roughly your age, and consider myself extraordinarily lucky to have a low interest mortgage, paid off truck, and no other debt. My best friend, also my age, lost his house in a divorce and now cannot afford to buy one that isn't a complete pit. He makes $85k/year. It's insanity.

But I digress...Maverick good. :)

I haven't read most of the responses but to me the question is when doesn't the Maverick make sense. It's just such a practical, if not the most practical vehicle currently on the market for the price!

I forgot to mention the most inportant thing they took away from the early trucks was the "0% interest rate for 36 months!" also the wifi was taken away.

It's been said many times, @Shay was probably one of the first and loudest voices, that the Maverick's interior materials are easier to accept in XL price point rather than Lariat, but there's just one problem:

There is absolutely nothing that competes with a Maverick at any given price point if there are specific features you highly value.

Towing 4k and getting 27-30 mpg when not towing - ecoboost
Getting 40-45+ mpg in town - hybrid
Hauling 1500 pounds in the bed - this is the reason to get either type of Maverick over a SUV

ACC steers for you, it' s not just radar cruise control. I have to say that when I do an out & back to western Kansas in a 20-35+ mph crosswind, it's extremely helpful to have ACC keeping it in the lane. It is massively less fatiguing when you drive 5+ hours. The more hours, the better it is.

If you don't drive like that, and a lot of people don't, I understand why people would not value ACC. In very heavy traffic, like Chicago, Atlanta, DC, it probably isn't even feasible to use it except perhaps stop & go. The minimum follow distance is short enough to make me nervous with the truck in control, and long enough that some people will not move out of the left lane, or will cut you off.

But I don't drive in dense traffic, and I really like it steering for me. Too bad you can't get ACC in the XLT trim. You can get a Ranger XLT with it, and you can get ACC in a base trim Escape. Ford knows there is nothing like the Maverick and we won't see ACC in less than Lariat Lux until there is a viable competitor. Otherwise, they're just giving away profit.
