This should not be a big leap for Ford, what is the hold-up? Toyota Stout will most likely come out of the gate 1st...

The Escape has an AWD hybrid option and the Maverick and Bronco Sport are built off that platform. Maybe the refreshed Maverick and Bronco Sport will have an AWD hybrid as an option!

I believe it's coming soon. PHEV with the price increase for a new model year and already a 1500 price increase on the 2024 hybrid, I ordered a 2024 ecoboost. To be frank having a hybrid vs ecoboost because of majority 2 lane hwy I drive it makes it an easy decision. Add the increase cost to purchase the option increase cost to have a EV charging station at home cost and not a significant difference in mileage and electric costs as well and even moreso in rural areas.

Now if my driving was mostly city or even example delivering mail (rural postal worker) the PHEV maybe an option. In my case it wouldn't pay to even consider it. For those that the PHEV would pay for itself, or city driving, I hope it's available sooner than later.

the Sport may get a hybrid/PHEV first to boost sales. adding AWD to the hybrid isn't needed as a marketing incentive as yet.

AWD will decrease the fuel efficiency and make the vehicle cost more to produce and cost more for the customer. Also, an AWD hybrid maverick might cut into the sales of the Ford F150 Lightning. I wish it was offered too...
My wife's Rav4 is AWD, and we get nearly the same MPGs. I agree there will be a difference, but it won't be much. Also, those buying Mavericks, for the most part have no interest in a Lightning. They want a SMALL truck, not Full Sized.

It was brought up awhile ago. They were saying the placement of the battery in the escape hybrid awd is in the same location as the bed in the Maverick so fitting it is the issue. How much truth that is idk

Escape Hybrid (not PHEV) has its HVB on the passenger side, under the floor beneath the front passenger seat, rear foot well, and rear bench. See #1. Maverick is in a similar location but more under the front passenger seat, given the 12V battery is under the rear bench. Source: Ford emergency responder guides. HVB does not interfere with AWD.

Escape/Corsair PHEV HVB covers the full width of the vehicle and may interfere with AWD. Escape PHEV is not available in AWD. Corsair Grand Touring (PHEV) includes eAWD, meaning there's an electric motor on the rear axle, instead of the mechanical system used in Escape Hybrid.

If you had a PHEV, you'd need a home charging station. Would that have a significant impact on your electric bill? I think I'd rather have a hybrid over a PHEV. I don't want to have to plug in my car, but that's just me. 😬

When the Maverick was first officially announced back in the summer of 2021 Ford said at that time that an AWD version of the Hybrid would be available at a later date. Then in the summer of 2022 a prototype Hybrid AWD was spotted being tasted in Michigan. But there hasn't really been any offical updates and surprisingly not even any additional rumors or spy shots have shown up. So either Ford is holding it close to the vest or they've cancelled any plans for an AWD Hybrid for the time being.
