Yup, my Plan B would be to buy a hybrid SOMETHING, for the MPG, then trade as soon as those guys get it in gear and bring new small trucks to the market.

But still holding on to my wish that my Mav gets scheduled. I've stripped my Hybrid XLT to nothing, no add ONS at all, so 🤞🤞🤞🤞.

I think mine will be to get a 2006-2011 Saab 9-3 SportCombi/9-3X for a "fuel efficient" daily (more fuel efficient than my current daily lmao) and a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 Pro Double Cab/Standard Bed with a bunch of options to basically have all the truck functionality I wanted and brand new vehicle reliability

But I do hope Long McArthur does get enough allocations to get every order built but I think it's hard to say if they will but I think we can all hope for the best but expect the worst.

So yeah that's my plan if I can't get built, what's yours?
Well I'll just keep my 21 Mazda CX-5 (It'st not payed for yet ). That is not a terrible thing. Unless earth is hit by a comet the sun will rise each day. Of course I will be greatly disappointed, and at my age time is not on my side. But there are more important issues. To miss quote Daisey Clover "who said on the garbage heap of life that Mav want to be owners are on top"

I have a 2023 CRV hybrid coming in. Will fallback on my 2004 Ranger for when I need a truck...

@HistoryGuy did your dealer give you an estimated delivery time for the CR-V? I'd be curious to hear how your order delivery process plays out with Honda.

Put the deposit down in September. They anticipate it will arrive in January. The non-hybrid 2023 CRVs have started to arrive.

I executed that plan this week.

The original plan was if I can't get a Maverick to get a Santa Cruz, but I couldn't get a base Santa Cruz SE model I wanted at MSRP from any dealer, they all played games and I got tired of it.

I ended up picking up a base Nissan Rogue for just under MSRP:

Its suuuuper squishy with those meaty tires, big roll in the turns when you really yank it, but stays surprisingly planted with lots of grip, and the trip computer (don't know how accurate it is) says I'm over 37mpg right now, woo!

Picking out a hitch now, but perhaps when the warranty is up and I get afraid of Nissan reliability I'll look into the Maverick again, maybe they'll have a AWD hybrid available by then!

Really have not decided, thought maybe a Mav PHEV might be out by my24 and I'd order that. However this would probably only put me in the same situation. Perhaps a Toyota compact hybrid truck will be an option by then. The Mav hybrid MPG is really a step backward from our Prius. I'm also now sceptical of Ford's build quality thanks to this forum. Our Prius is really just getting broken in at 86K and starting to turn it best MPG numbers. We can wait to see what's out there when the time comes.

Didn't originally have a backup plan when this post first came out, but now that I've thought about it for a while, I'd probably get a Tacoma TRD Off-Road Premium...might get one anyway if I get tired of waiting, or my wife gets tired of me asking for one,lol

Unlike JASmith, I was able to find a SE Santa Cruz with no mark ups. My wife was not a fan of the pictures of it, didn't want anything to do with it, until we went to purchase it. Now, she's the one using it as a daily driver, she loves it, and is unlikely to give it up often.

@JASmith how are you liking your Rogue after a month? I think they're good looking vehicles, but worry about long term reliability, especially with their transmissions.

If neither of my two Hybrid Lariat Mavericks get delivered, we will just hang onto the '22 FE that I picked up as an "insurance policy" for that very case... My wife will continue driving her Impala.

But if either one of them is delivered, we'll sell or trade the Impala for the new '23. If we get the Cyber Orange one, it will be mine and she'll keep the current truck. If we get the Cactus Gray one, it will be hers, and I'll keep the current one.

If through some miracle we get both trucks we ordered for '23, the Impala will get sold or traded in on one of them, and the '22 Hybrid Lariat will get sold or traded in on the other one.
